Wasn't Juan the dude that mis-played Pokey Reese's hit to RF in 2004, allowing him to get an inside the park homerun?

Indeed. Good call. I must have seen that replay a thousand times.

What about Willy Mo?

According to this story RF/LF Wily Mo Pena, a one time Yankee prospect via trade, is available for pitching. This guy flat out kills the ball. Sure he doesn't bring to the table a great BA, but he's 24 and most players don't start to show their true skills until age 26/27. Wily Mo could fill in for Manny and Trot on their days off and keep a nice power threat in the lineup. In '07 he could replace Trot or Manny if either one is gone.

depends on what you would have to give up in pitching.

I would trade Clement for Pena, regardless of whether or not it is a perfectly equal deal. Perhaps Clement and some money for Pena and a prospect?

Pena has always impressed me with his power. his barely .300 OBP is concerning, but he's young so what the hell? Especially since he was only paid 500,000 for last year. At that price you could send him to the minors if he sucks. As a 4th OFer and platoon mate for Trot It would be a good deal.

I love this idea...I like the idea of Wily Mo as a fill in for ManRam or Trot on their off-days. With how young WilyMo is, I'd like to see him work with Papa Jack and see if he can get that OBP higher, and if so, we'd have a potential superstar on our hands. We've by no means seen this kids potential, and I think he's gonna be a real masher in the years to come.

I have a feeling the Sox would have to pick up a TON of Clements contract though...

Here is what I see...the outfield consists of:

Manny Ramirez, Coco Crisp, Trot Nixon, Dustan Mohr, Adam Stern, Willie Harris, David Murphy, Brandon Moss.

Both Brandon Moss and David Murphy need to work in Pawtucket for the time being. Adam Stern in my opinion is worthless. He can't hit, run that well, and isn't anything amazing on defense. Willie Harris has some speed but I'm not sure what else. Dustan Mohr sucked in COLORADO and never did much in his early career.

Dude, I caaaaaaaaaaaan't agree with you more on Adam Stern. I know they have to keep him around or whatever because of that Rule 5 ********, but this guy has done absolutley NOTHING to impress me. And honestly, I'm sick and tired of people making this dude out to be Kenny Freaking Lofton circa 1996 with his speed. Stern can run above average, slightly. And I'd say he's an even bigger sliiiiiiiiiightly better than average in the field. I see no use for him. I'd rather see Harris in a game anytime. And I'm not too huge on him either.

Think Stern would have any kind of trade value at all? Like maybe a pack of gum and cash considerations...haha

I could see us getting some big red or juicy fruit for him ... but definatly not Big League Chew.

Should Adam Stern be DFA'd ?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personally, I think the Adam Stern experiment should end soon. He's supposed strength was his speed / base running ability. Well, je's been either picked-off or thrown out on at least three occasions. This is not acceptable. Also he's done squat with the bat. Overall, not ready for prime time.

Wow...that's probably the first post I've ever read on here where I've actually laughed out loud. Nice work. But I'll be honest, if I could get a pack of freaking Trident for Stern, I'd be tempted to take it right now. I might even pick up some of Stern's contract haha.

Big League Chew is in a class by itself.

But if only they could find a way for Juicy Fruit to keep it's flavor longer...

The Adam Stern on the big-club experiment will end soon; it will end after the 18th game of the season, then they can send him down to Pawtuckett. At this point, with at least two MiLB prospects ahead of him on the depth chart, I think the FO is just hoping for a breakout AAA season which would increase his value to at least that of a pouch of Big League Chew.

You heard here first! Juan Gonzalez signed a minor league deal with the Boston Red Sox! Now, I demand an apology from Jsinger among others because when I said that Boston should sign Juan alot of you called me an idiot & said that there's no way Theo signs him ... Call me a visionary ppl! :harhar:

its just a minor league deal. Besides Dustan Mohr is showing this spring thus far that he can be a serviceable platoon partner for Trot. Id even take Adam Stern over him, and Stern is a left hander.

Juan Gonzalez in right field of Fenway Park would be a defensive liability. Basically what we saw from Jose Cruz in his brief stint last season.

Hahahahaha I don't even believe this.

Juan Freaking Gonzalez...

Dude's durability makes Jr Griffey look like Jr. Ripken.

I think we should sign Steve Balboni and George Bell to minor league deals too...I think they've got something left too. Hahahaha.

hope you say that when he's putting dents into the green monster ... lol ...

The reason why I'm happy with the sox signing Juan gone is that unlike other winters he actually trained his butt off & looks great ...

Okkk then why hasnt it been reported by a reliable source, something local. A source that I can fully read.

There's no room for him, Stern is taking up the 25th spot until his 17th day. And Dustan Mohr has done more than enough in spring training to secure the role of Trot's platoon partner. Juan's going to play just a couple of games in Pawtucket then be called up? It just doesnt make any sense

Probably taking Stern's spot . Or who knows, he'll probably kick Mohr off the team ...
