Good to see former Bruin Rick Tocchet making a name for himself with the bookmakers of the world.

I never knew Wayne Gretzky's wife was such a sports nut that she's gambling huge pieces every week on football and hoop.

God I wanted to f*** her in the 80's

I wouldn't be surprised if Wayne's wife was placing the bets for him.

That was my implication in the original post, MC

And I'm quite sure thats the consensus of opinion across the country this fine morning.

Although who knows. . .

Maybe Janet Jones is heavy into sports wagering. She did make that spectacular American Anthem movie back in '86 with that bagbiter Mitch Gaylord.

Before American Anthem and Flamingo Kid, Janet was steaming up many a tv screen for young men in Dance Fever. I remember Janet and that other little hot foxy lady she danced around with (and I don't mean Deney Terrio and Adrian Zmed).

Back on topic, this is turning out quite interesting. Either Janet has turned out to be the most unexpected gamblers on earth, or Gretzky completely threw his wife under the bus (with her permission of course... how ironic Valentines is right around the corner). You're telling me he had absolutely NO IDEA whatsoever the love of his life was betting bookoo dollars in one of the biggest underground betting rings organized by people within his own organization. I don't see how Wayne is going to avoid not smelling like s*** regardless of how this thing turns.

i think Gretzky is def. involved. If his wife is doing it, he either, knows it, or is doing it with her. It's just a lil harder digging up the dirt on someone like him. This is gonna be another Pete Rose Scandal. Not a Hockey fan at all, so don't shoot me for asking probably a stupid question, but is Gretzky in the Hall of Fame yet?

Wayne was inducted 1999, the same year he retired (he didn't have to wait the three year retirement period before being considered). We've been lucky to have seen two sports gods in these past several years (Gretzky for hockey and MJ in basketball).

Posted
ok, but do you think they will take him out though, if they found out he was involved in this whole shin-dig?

Absolutely not. First off, once you're in you're in. Hell, look at OJ....

Secondly, most of this is speculation right now. Probably at worst, he may have done some betting on other sports (non-hockey)... as well as gotten involved in something that someone in his position of power shouldn't of. Oh yeah, and been a dickhead husband letting his wife take the fall. All of that doesn't overshadow his accomplishments on the ice rink.

Thirdly, Gretzky is considered "god" in the NHL. It's going to take a hell of a lot more than this betting scandel to make people forget what he's done as a player.

The worse part of this ongoing scandle is the implication of a professional team's management in the organization and running of an illegal betting ring. The Gretzky-Janet Jones stuff is just fodder for the front pages of the NY Post.

i don't know, I'm thinking though being a head coach of a team, puts you in a lot of power, to make bets on your own sport. I mean look at Rose. Rose could do that stuff. And then when you look at what happened to him, his career, was def. over shadowed by his gambling problem. I'm not saying this will happen to Gretzky, but it is very possible. I just can't see how his wife was doing it, and not him. Honestly

If Wayne bet on his own team then that's a whole new can of worms. Doesn't mean he deserves to be out of the HOF.

Pete Rose's problem is he got caught before getting in the Hall.... and they've been putting up roadblocks against him ever since.

I figure this has been going on for years, atleast a lot longer than they've been running the team.

I guess those multi-million dollar contracts just weren't enough for Rick.

i just heard on the radio they have wayne gretsky on wire taps with knowledge of the gambling ring while it was still going on.

It'd be much appreciated if you could find a link to substantiate that, but I'll assume it's real till I see other wise.

As long as none of the bets were placed on hockey, it shouldn't have barring on Wayne's place in the HOF or hockey lure, but if Wayne did bet on hockey he needs to be thrown out of the league, and never allowed back.

The NHL does NOT have any rules prohibiting players and/or coaches from gambling on sports except, of course, for hockey

It seems Mrs Gretzky had 75 large on the Super Bowl and laid it in to the tune of a half million during the course of the NFL playoffs.

I wonder if she went under 149 in BC/Wake last night like I did?

Opening your mouth too soon, as usual, Yves, like the time in the mens room at the . . .

Ahhhhh, forget it.

I posted this to you yesterday morning. You ignored it.

BC is -2 w/ a 151 tonight in Winston Salem

Under here certainly looks good

The game went off at 149

I was pretty sure it was a winner when it was 9-6 after 10 minutes.

Walrus,

Janet Jones was a babe in the 80's no doubt

Would you give the nod to Rebecca De Mornay (ala Risky Business) though if you had to choose one? Rebecca was DYN-O-MITE in that movie

Posted

Thats no contest, Rebecca DeMornay, hands down.

She was total Dick in Hand, as my esteemed colleague from Silver Hill might say.

One question on this Rick Tocchet thing. . .Can anyone confirm or deny Mike Eruziones role in this? He's been ratting out book makers for years. Maybe he got in a little too deep with Tocchets crew during the Arena Football season and had to roll over on him like an obedient golden retriever
