this thread seemed interesting, but quite honestly I don't think I can say anything without a certain new poster taking things too personal and going off again. In the interests of keeping this thread out of fights and crap, I'll keep my mouth shut and let your own RSN brethren tell you in their own polite way that you are wrong. I'd advise that to my other Yankee fans. It's impossible to have a rational discussion right now.

I don't take any of this personally. My post was a little long, and I did go off on a tangent, but there was no animus involved. Note, not a single exclamation point or demeaning statement in that post. Don't be reluctant to post, but if you say something collosally stupid, you have to expect that I will call you on it. And occasionally, I can't resist giving a history lesson, because I am old. There's nothing personal about it. Heck, three-quarters of my family are Yankee fans, and I only hate half of them.

Im the admin and I'm supposed to remain relatively impartial and neutral blah blah blah but you're a complete moron. Damon could cure Alzheimers (highly unlikely given his mental level is roughly that of an unripened canteloupe) and I, along with most of the rest of Red Sox Nation, would still hate him.

First of all people with speech disorders should not be considered stupid. You sound like a moron for questioning Damon’s intelligence because of his speech problems. And go ahead pretending that players don’t want to leave because of RS fans, I’ll be happy to watch another 86 years go by. I can understand you not being happy with a player that goes to the Yankees but the RS fans take things too far. Yes David Wells was booed in a RS uniform but he was remembered for some bad things he did also. Damon did enough for Red Sox Nation that you could cut him a little slack.

What bad things did Wells do? I know he wore Babe Ruth's hat when he pitched a game, and that he missed the Sports Illustrated Cover Picture with the rest of the Yankee staff, and that he likes to shoot nose rockets on the mound, but nothing bad. As for Sox fans taking things too far, what in the world are you talking about. Damon was never booed in Fenway, and he had a loyal following of Red Sox fans from coast to coast. Are you talking about some of the stupid posts on various boards? Well, I don't think Johnny D. or Jeter or any of them read our crap, especially not Damon who is apparently learning disabled.

I also remember when you Yankee fans booed Jeter in that 0-30 slump. That was a pretty stupid thing to do.

I also remember, even worse than Jeter, you booed RIVERA at the beginning of this season for blowing some saves. Oh yeah, he came back to be the Rivera of normal. YOU NEVER BOO RIVERA. NEVER.

After he said he would not play for the top dollar? After he said he couldn't go to the Yankees? Bitch please.

Well according to Johnny, the yankees deal wasnt the top offer...but we all know thats ********!

Yea...I agree, I was mad at my fellow Yankee fans who booed Jeet and Mo. Cant be perfect all the time

...since some of you guys were talking about David Wells, I can say that seeing Wells in that uniform was enough to bring a tear to the eye, and yes, I did have some not-so-nice things to say about him after he signed. But fact of the matter is I still love Boomer for all he has done for us and what he brought to the Yankees. Just as long as he is going to hold a grudge against yankee fans and wear that uniform *which I guess wont be for too much longer) it will be hard to applaud him.

I think most of us feel the same way about Damon, but he's on the enemy list for the next 4 years.

Wells lost respect with the Yankee fans when he pulled himself out of the game against the Marlins in the WS, he was getting a history that when things go wrong he would give in or blow up. He did that for the RS in the game he was thrown out and in Chicago when he lost focus and gave up the big home run. I don’t think many players read these boards except for Schilling, but they do listen (or their friends do) to sports radio talk shows. Many players talk about what they hear on the talk shows and the fans killing them wrongfully.

Addressing the Jeter and Rivera booing, that was a small percentage of fans. They were immediately criticized all over New York and it stopped. The RS fans are completely obsessed and they take their own temperature every few minutes. When it comes to obsession Yankee fans fall back to a distant second.

And Damon doesn’t have a learning disability he has a speech disability.

I remember that game and the “big standing O” was more like some polite applause.
The cheers were fairly loud, many were standing and there were no boos.

The boing stopped, because Jeter went on a hitting tearand Mo didn'y blow a save formonths, not because Yankee fans got a collective hold of themselves and decided it was wrong.

Damon must have a learning disability if he thinks he can go to the Yank without RSN hating him. He saw the rivalry up close for 4 years. He must be a little slow.

He knows Boston is going to hate him, he doesn't care. For every Sox fan who hates him, there's another Yankee fan who loves him, so I don't think it's going to bother him.

But as Damon gets older and his stats decline, the hatred from Boston will far outweigh whatever 'love' is left from New York.

And I'm sure his $12 Million extra dollars will help sooth his pain. (and his 2 other World Series rings ;))

Yeah, those rings are certainly soothing RJ, ARod, Sheffield, and Giambi right now. This happens every offseason. The Yanks make a big acquisition, and NY fans start reserving rooms at Disney World.

Those yankee fans will drop off too, when they see Damon making throws from center field that land 100 feet away from the infield, when he starts to slow down and give bernie williams like defense, and when he starts to swing at everything(something he started doing last year) and hits like .260.

he hit .256 in oakland. even though he hit .316 this year, and like .300 last year, the years before were in the 270's, and i remember in 2003 he had a long stretch in like july where his average was like .230

Na man it was definately a standing o, and well deserved

And the reason he got it is because he meant a lot to our franchise for a couple years there. I love Boomer, and always will despite some of the things he did (Blwoing up in game 5, going to the Sox, selling out his teammates in the book, etc.) because the good things he did were so great. Pitching outstanding relief in game 7 of the ALCS (despite the homer to Ortiz I believe it was), the perfect game, the Yankee Pride, the love for the fans (speaking of that, I remember earlier in the year there was a thread about him ripping yankee fans for booing him, I believe it was in one of the Boston papers. Does anyone have a link to the article or thread, cant seem to find it), etc.

You thing Schilling lurks here on talksox?? Well if so....

....Curt, f*** YOU. You ruined my life on two occasions, back in 2001 and in 2004. I want you to know that I hate you. Actually, what I feel for you is more than hate. I f***ing loathe and despise you. I hope you f***ing never win another game in your entire life. I would have loved you had the trade with the Yankees prior to 2004 went down, as I remember us being one of the teams you stated you wanted to go to, but you didnt. So f*** YOU! And good luck trying to shut up 50,000 Yankee fans because you will never succeed no matter what, we all f***ing hate you. I swear to god, go retire or something. Go host a radio show up in Beantown or some s***, but whatever you do SHUT THE f*** UP and stop being such a drama queen.

OK, glad I got that one out of the way...sorry to interrupt guys, proceed.

I dont think he'll get like Bernie in CF because frankly I think we move him to one of the corners next year after Sheffields contract expires to make room for Melky in Center or one of the big Free Agents. (I would prefer Melky, or one of the Free Agents on a 1 year deal)

Amen

He's going to see it for another 4 years from a completely different standpoint, and hate it.

Why is he going to hate it??

Yeah sure, I'd like to see Damon make the throw from RF to 3B.
