But you cant replace Mueller's play at 3rd. I hated that guy. Everything down the line he seemed to get to. I know Lowell had some impressive years, except for last year. So cant really predict what he will do. COuld be a good thing a change in scenary.

Why come to this site to discuss this team if you know absolutely nothing about it, or the game of baseball, as it seems you don't? Lowell won the NL GG at 3b last year, I think he'll be able to fill Mueller's shoes in the field.

Look, we all know why you came. Your username and first post make that very evident. Now it is time for you to move on, because the longer you stay, the more you expose the fact that you are a serious window-licker.

What about Cora? Heard Francona wouldnt mind having him play everyday. Is that like Cashman saying that our CF will be Bubba Crosby?

Cora will not play everyday. Tony G would play SS before we let Cora play.

Posted
Is terry blowing smoke saying cora can play everyday? Yes, although Cora is better than bubba crosby. Cora has good range and hands and could handle things defensivley. He hit .280 for the dodgers in 04, hes a good player, but I think best suited as a utility guy.

Cora hit .264 in 2004, but he did have a career high of 10 homeruns. His career high in batting avg. is .291 in 2002.

graffanino does not have the range to play shortstop. he should only play there in a pinch not full time. neither him or loretta should play there full time as they both dont have the best range. cora right now has the best range of any infielder that can play short on our roster. right now I believe he would be the opening day starter if the season opened today.

again i pull this out from the boston globe

Defense: Graffanino and Loretta have made a combined 421 appearances at shortstop, with Loretta owning the lion’s share with 328. Graffanino made 13 errors in 339 chances (.962 fielding percentage, which is eight points better than Renteria’s 2005 percentage), and Loretta had 21 errors in 1,213 chances. Only two shortstops in major league baseball last season had a better fielding percentage than Loretta’s career .983 mark at short. Let that sink in for a minute.

What about zone rating and range factor? Both Graffanino and Loretta have similar numbers in those categories (at the shortstop position) as Gonzalez, who is considered one of the best defensive shortstops in the National League.

This post is useless but I just want to say that Bill Simmons depiction of Henry being confused all the time was one of the best things I've ever read. It's up there with some of the Emerson I read. Wow haha

I'm probably double posting right now but at the rate people post here I might not be who knows, but good call on that one, you've uncovered my secret. I actually pull stats out of my head with out double or even single checking them. For every accurate one, there is always some ******** one that really is wrong. So, anyhoo, I like cora *whistles*

No, I wasn't trying to say, "Hey idiot, he batted .264! Not .280!." My bad.

What kind of stupidity is this? Duh, the difference is that the other guys didn't go to the Yankees. Wake up!

are you slow or something? Yes I know the difference is he went to the Yankees. Bellhorn went to the Yanks and noone gave a damn. I basically said that Damon was more popular, there was no need for your type of remark.

Posted
What like we arent allowed to vent our aggression? Yes I do believe this is a red sox forum site, so laughable to say the least you are surprised about how we feel. Damon was a much loved Sox player who chose to switch sides like recent defectors in Clemens and Boggs.

Plain and simple, this has nothing to do with his contract, I could care less. Its all about him going to the Yankees. So it shouldnt come as a shock at all that most of Red Sox Nation is feeling betrayed at this moment.

I'm not sure why you feel the need to say that to me. I am merely stating the fact that Damon is more populart so this hurts more than when Bellhorn went to the Yanks.

Posted
damon switched sides for one reason and one reason only......MONEY.....if money is all he cares about then thats his problem. he was a nobody before he came to boston. had he not came to boston he would never have had the image or star status he has right now.

Well, the way you said it was kind of wierd, the 2 doller hoes, the rich guy bullying everyone. But him leaving hurts not only because he went to the Yanks or left the Sox but just the way he did it.

it's amazing how fast some people start bashing Johnny the minute he leaves town. I heard the same things when Pedro went to the Mets, and we know how that turned out.

My point exactky, its amazing. If he had re-signed with him they wouldnt be saying any of this stuff.

Jorge Posada signs with the Sox. What do you do? Compliment him on his integrity and character? Or call him rat-face?

You know what...you are absolutely right

BUT...I would still acknowledge his abilities and whatnot and not just throw him under a bus. But I cant say my feelings wouldnt be close to what you guys are showing now. So I take my comment back.

26 did you not just read the last few posts?

Pedro explanation- We never right off the bat bashed him, he was the one who started s*** with us and made himself look bad in RSNs eyes. If he had said, "It was great playing in Boston, I love the fans, but the ownership did not repspect me" then maybe we wouldnv'e bashed our FO.

Johnny explanation- Let's say Derek Jeter is a FA. He's around 32 and is showing signs he may start to decline, you offer him a reasonable offer that is repsectfull to him and supplements what everyone else has offered. Then out of nowhere he signs with the Sox for an offer he never confirmed was real, and that he never told the Yanks about the offer, so they couldn't at leats match it? And after all the history he has with New York, all the accomplishments he's had with you, he just leaves for 2 million a year. How would YOU act?

Rational? Yankee fan? :( I can't handle this.

Na, i didnt read the posts, mainly because when I first opened the thread it had me like 5 pages back and I didnt feel like reading all of those pages

Pedro: I cant blame him for being upset, Schilling comes and Pedro becomes #2 in the eyes of many Red Sox fans.

Johnny: Its hard to compare johnny to jeter, Johnny played 4 YEARS in Boston, where Jeter was a Yankee fan growing, drafted by the Yankees out of High School, progressed through the system, became our Shortstop, won 4 championships with us, was named captain, etc.. So Jeter would NEVER do that. A better example probably would have been Matsui  or Sheffield. And I would be very upset if that was the case, but I would still acknowledge their assets and not throw them under the bus like RSN has done to many Red Sox contributors in recent years (Bellhorn, Embree, MIllar, DAMON, etc..)

And how did you fare with Bellhorn and Embree?.... enough said

In 2005 they quickly wore out their welcome, i can give you the stats if youd like. If you think they were worth not cutting, biggest laugh ive had yet

You yankee fans have never "thrown one of your players under the bus?" Oh cmon

I'm wondering what it would be like if this mentality had been around in 1920.

"Yeah, that George Herman...has nowhere to go but down! This deal, in reality, hurts the Yankees and helps us in the long run."

Are you comparing Bellhorn and Embree to Johnny Damon? If so, then I dunno what team you have been following but it sure can't be the Red Sox. Johnny Damon is a far superior player to Bellhorn who had what was it, one hit in pinstripes? And Alan Embree sucked, majorly.

I'm positive Johnny will do a better job than those scrubs.
