Gonzaga's beenable to climb back in it (tied, right now), but this game hasn't done much to change my opinion of Gonzaga. I'm sure it's the same case for MC Hammer.

This team doesn't deserve to be #4. They're, at best, an elite 8 team, to me.

It's going to depends how the brackets set up, but the first real team they play, they're done.

Yeah, they should be crushing these WCC teams, always close.

Yeah. Imagine Duke or UConn in the WCC. The only problem with UConn is that they tend to get bored when they play lesser opponents.

Then a forfeit would be a common thing in the WCC.

Oral Roberts and UW-Milwaukee both clinched NCAA berths tonight. South Alabama will be joining them tonight as they are blowing out Western Kentucky right now in the Sun Belt Championship.

n case you haven't seen it......

SU blew a 14-point 2nd half lead.....

Cincy hit a shot with 10 secs left to go up by one.....

Cincy stole the inbounds pass.....Syracuse fouled with 8 secs left....

Cincy hit first FT, missed 2nd (Cincy now up by 2 w/8 secs left)....

Cincy fouls Syracuse because they have one to give (now 6 secs left)....

Then......

Syracuse gets the ball inbounds to Gerry McNamara who dribbles through center court, double-teamed, goes around the back, and splits the two defenders. As the clock goes down to about 2 secs, G-Mac throws up a running 3-point prayer (running...as in took off from beyond the arc, headed towards the bucket and floats it with one hand). BOOM! SU up one. (now 0.5 secs left).

Cincy throws the ball to half court.....player grabs it on the run and shoots as he's sprinting to his right.....from half-court.....off the front of the rim!

WHEW! SU survives another day....and will probably get destroyed by UConn tomorrow, but may have earned an NCAA berth by beating another bubble team on a neutral court (remember, they're 2-1 now against fellow-bubble team Cincy).

But senior G-Mac coming up that big in that situation...incredible shot!

Even if we get crushed by UConn, today's a good day for Orange fans!

I watched the game in school, and the ground shook when GMAC hit that last second shot with 0.5 seconds left.

Why would they let you watch that game in school. I know you live in Syracuse and s*** but it's just a 1st round game in the Big East tourney. Sure your slim hopes of a season depends on it but it's kind of weird that they'd let you watch that in school.

I still think Syracuse is out, as it is right now. They need to beat UConn and judging by how well McNamara does against UConn, how Syracuse as a team has done against UConn, and UConn's track record in MSG for the Big East Tourney, that's a very, very tall task.

If they beat Uconn, they are in, PERIOD.

Today, JB was about as fiery as I've ever seen him talking about G-Mac in the post game interview. He said they wouldn't have won 10 "f***ing" games without him this year. He seemed upset about a school paper article that said he was overrated. The article quoted anonymous assistant coaches. JB said that if they think G-Mac is overrated they will never be qualified to be a head coach.

While i think this is a bit of an exaggeration, i do think we would have been under .500, and clearly not in any post season tournaments at all. ok, now i'll stop all the "i told you so" talk. All the Syracuse fans should all be kneeling at Gerry's feet after todays heroics, so i'll just let his shot today speak for itself. the guy is all heart..

Yea, It was the fireyest I've ever seen Jim....but Syracuse is probably already in, maybe, if they beat UConn, its no doubt there in, not at all.

Lets just salvage this, upset all the Brackettologists...

Syracuse needs to beat UConn to even have a chance. They are 3-10 against the RPI top 50. And the way they have played the last month has not helped either.

Posted

To have a chance? You know little about College Basketball if you think that if they beat the #1 team in the nation, UConn, they are potentially OUT.

Not to mention their SOS is 9.

Posted
3-10 against the top 50 is awful. They have 1 win over a ranked team all season and it was against a team that was struggling in West Virginia. They don't beat UConn tomorrow and Syracuse can start spelling the letters N-I-T. Their SOS of schedule may be 9 but their RPI is 43 which is a boderline tournament team. UConn will likely end Syracuse NCAA's hope's tomorrow.

43 before this win today, anyone who is on the bubble and beat uconn and doesn't get in is called C-O-N-S-P-I-R-A-C-Y.

The RPI will move up a few spots but Cincinnati is not a marquee win. They need this UConn game or they be NIT bound. The DePaul loss does not help Syracuse's cause if they lose to UConn.

How is it that you argue how important SOS and RPI is for Gonzaga but then say it doesn't matter for Syracuse? Either it does or it doesn't.

Note: Cuse plays in the best conference in college bball ... Gonzaga plays in one of the worst.

It is a factor but so is how you play against teams in the top 50 and top 100 and Syracuse is just not very impressive with a 3-10 record against the top 50. Who have they beaten outside of West Virginia and Cincinnati twice? There 7-9 record in the Big East as well as the blowout loss against DePaul will also be held against them as well when the commitee looks at their resume.

Posted

Nah, im not accusing you of saying anything actually. Just everything you say relating to Syracuse is pro-cuse, and you make them sound like the greatest team ever, when clearly theyll be lucky to make the tournament.

Well actually I did accuse you of saying s*** pro-cuse but whatever, you are biased towards them.

Gonzaga is 2-3 vs top 50 teams.

7-9 in the Big East is better than going undefeated in the WCC
