The ACC is very weak? They've been considered arguable the best conference, even though the Big East is, IMO, better. They are not "very weak."

Definatly not very weak, but The Big East blows the ACC out of the water, eventhough the ACC has the overall superior team, in Duke.

I don't think they're weak more that they are all close to the same talent level. There is 1 clearly dominant team in Duke and many other 2nd tier teams who have all beaten each other up (UNC, BC, Maryland, NC State). Georgia Tech and Wake are the only 2 usual powerhouses in the conference who are having weak years and teams like Miami and Virginia have picked up the slack and gotten some quality wins.

They have the hardest schedule. They have the most impressive record. What more is Duke going to have to do to make you accept them as the best team in the nation?

The ACC will get 4 teams into the tourney and for them that is a down year. they usually should get 5-6 teams in. the big east is clearly the superior conference with at least 3 teams with legitimate chances at the final four.

So they're not allowed to have bad games? Duke is one of the most dominant powers in the NCAA. When you have a coach like Mike Kcvybvkcvbgsfbajbk and great leadership in players like JJ Redick and Sheldon Williams (both of who happen to own face, just in case you've never heard of them ), your team is good. BC is not a pushover team, but Duke is better. Besides, who cares? The fact remains that they won. A win is a win, no matter how ugly it is.

 

Also, just because you "hate" Duke, doesn't mean they're not the best team in the country.

i don't think duke can get physical with a team from the big east. duke is a finese team if a great Defensive team plays them will shut them down. i think teams like villanova and uconn would clearly give duke significant problems.

As a longtime fan of ACC basketball, I have to say the officiating is very fair and consistent. Certain crews let them play on the inside and call a lot of perimeter stuff. Other crews call it tight inside and allow contact on the perimeter. However, each given night they are consistent throughout the whole game. Take Duke's game against Maryland on Saturday. They were allowing a lot of contact on the inside, and they allowed it all game long for both teams.

 

If there is one thing that pretty much every crew does, it is that they don't call fouls on plays in the paint that will change the outcome of the game when the game is down to the wire unless it is an obvious foul. This isn't something that has been going on for the last few years, it has been going on since as long as I can remember. The plays against FSU and BC that you can't seem to get over weren't obvious fouls. Williams did make contact with the offensive player, but he didn't initiate the contact. He held his ground and was straight up both times. Could a foul have been called? Sure, and it may have been earlier in the game, but those types of plays rarely get called in the ACC at the end of the game. You don't like Duke, that much is obvious, but your incessant whining seems like a bunch of sour grapes to me.

 

As for Coach K's commercial. Do you honestly think he needed that to be an effective recruiter? I seriously doubt that affected his ability to recruit at all. Every ball player knows who Duke is and what they are all about. He landed excellent recruiting classes for the 20 preceeding that ad, and he will continue to with or without it.

No, and nor do I believe it had any effect on any recruiting classes. However, it's still not allowed and nothing was done about it. And no, those were clear fouls in the BC and FSU game.

ill go into college basketball threads because i follow it more than the NBA because its better than the NBA. so what if i don't like duke. its my opinion. i don't think they will win it all. maybe thats my opinion but im not a duke frontrunner like most people here.

OK heres the thing. There's no problem with you disliking Duke, as long you can still have valid discussions about them without basing your opinions on hatred for Duke. Take a look at some of the Yankee talk on this board. Yeah there are a few members who will just say "Yankees suck" but the majority of us can still have an intelligent discussion about them, eventhough we hate them.

Duke does not have enough scoring if say a player like reddick gets shut down for a game. other than williams and reddick they have no other player averaging in double figures. against a team like UConn sheldon williams will likely be a non factor with hilton armstrong and josh boone. dukes depth might come back to haunt them as they rely too much on reddick and williams.
