On the Brewers, the addition of Coskie should help because I don't believe J.J. Hardy is worthy of a starting spot at short yet. An infield of Coskie, Hall, Weeks and Fielder should be very dangerous. With Carlos Lee, Brady Clark and Geoff Jenkins in the outfield, the team is going to knock the cover off of the ball.

Rotoworld: Guardians signed outfielder Todd Hollandsworth to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training. The Guardians really wanted to do better here, but Hollandsworth on a minor league pact is a fine signing. He'll probably be the team's fourth outfielder and receive the occasional start over Casey Blake versus right-handers. This means Jason Dubois will likely head back to Triple-A for the beginning of the season.

Devil Rays signed LHP Wayne Franklin to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training. Franklin will probably find his way back to the majors sometime during the season. We're not sure why it happens, but it always does.

yea lol , that made me laugh as well

Made more updates. The rest of TB's signings late last night, in addition to the Julian Tavarez deal and Ben Weber signing with the Blue Jays. I think Ben is a good pitcher and should have gone somewhere else. If he can get a spot in that pen then its ok, but their pen is pretty packed.

Devil Rays signed RHP Shinji Mori to a two-year, $1.4 million contract. He'll earn $500,000 this year and $700,000 in 2007. After that season, the Devil Rays must decide whether to exercise options for both 2008 ($950,000) and 2009 ($1.05 million). If Tampa Bay declines the options, which must be exercised together, it would pay a $200,000 buyout. Mori, who had been one of the most successful setup men in Japan, would join Chad Orvella in setting up Danys Baez if the season started today. If Baez gets traded, then there'd probably be a competition between Mori and Orvella for the closer's role. As a result, the 31-year-old is a sleeper.

A potentially good signing by the D-Rays, I was hoping for Sox to buy the rights to negotiate with him. Intrigued on how he will make the transition.

glad they finally got this one done, now they can stop talking about it over on the Japanese Baseball forum I visit.

But really, Shinji wasnt the guy there in terms or relievers, so i'm not sure how this will turn out. Sometimes the lesser stars over in Japan do better here, so who knows.

couple late signings last night that I added. One that jumped out at me was Brooks Kieschnick to the Devil Rays. He didnt have much of a season last year, but the year before, when he was with Milwaukee I believe I noticed that this guy has a pretty good arm. He can throw pretty hard. I hope he improves into a better pitcher because he has the potential to become a top reliever.

Orioles signed RHP Ricky Bottalico to a minor league contract and invited him to spring training. Bottalico never made it back to the majors after signing with the Red Sox last August. He had a 4.54 ERA in 41 2/3 IP before being cut by the Brewers. The Orioles should be able to do without him, especially if Orber Moreno is healthy.

Right-hander Jeff Bennett, who was non-tendered by the Brewers last month, has reportedly agreed to a deal with the Braves. Another sleeper for the Atlanta pen. Bennett spent 2004 in the majors after being selected in the Rule 5 draft and then had injury issues last season. We like his chances of being a long-term contributor better than those of Oscar Villarreal or Lance Cormier.

The Orioles and Kevin Millar are moving close to an agreement on a one-year deal, according to the Baltimore Sun. Figures. Millar and Jeff Conine seem redundant, but they're still upgrades for the Orioles. As things stand now, it'd work best if Conine moved back and forth between first and left, with Corey Patterson playing against righties and Millar against lefties. We're skeptical that's how it will end up, though. Millar and Conine might both be regulars if Luis Matos is traded.

Glad Millar is finally signed.

I think it would have been perfect for him to go to the Dodgers  ..but hw should be a nice fit in Baltimore.

The Padres have added on another former member of the 04 Red Sox to go along with Mirabelli and Bellhorn.

Padres signed LHP Alan Embree to a minor league contract. He'll earn $850,000 if he makes the club. Embree was with the Padres in 2002 before the Red Sox acquired him in a trade. He has a reasonable chance of winning a job as a lefty specialist.

They go from Boston to New York together and then from NY to San Diego. lol

Well good luck to him...definately gonna need it after last year.

The Nationals have reportedly offered a minor league deal to Felix Rodriguez. Rodriguez may have overplayed his hand a bit, but it's hard to imagine him being forced to settle for a minor league contract. A one-year deal worth $1 million-$1.5 million remains a possibility.

The Nationals have offered a minor league deal to free agent Daryle Ward. Between Michael Tucker, Marlon Byrd, Damian Jackson, Robert Fick, Marlon Anderson and Jamey Carroll, the Nationals' bench is already overflowing. Ward wouldn't be anything more than Triple-A insurance in case of a Nick Johnson injury.

Yeah the Thomas signing by the A's doesn't surprise me I didn't expect him to be back with the White Sox he was too injury riddled last year and he didn't put up the best numbers. The guy is getting up there he's what 37 almost time to call it quits.

Yea, word was that Beane was exploring signing Thomas, then after the dates came and passed and it was a guarantee that he would not be back in Chicago I figured it was pretty much done. But with how quiet that has been lately, I wasnt too sure.
