i whole-heartedly agree, i mean cmon the phillies even out rank us. i just got this feeling the Sox in 2006 shouldnt be underestimated.

While Theo is gone, there's a distinct possibility they'll lose Johnny Damon and Manny Ramirez as well. That would be a huge blow to a team that relied heavily on offense to compensate for its mediocre pitching. Boston needs its young pitchers (Jonathan Papelbon, Craig Hansen, Manny Delcarmen) to develop in a hurry.

whose to say boston will have mediocre pitching for 2006?? if anything the bullpen will be stronger than 2005 and this guy is talking as if Jonathan papelbon hasnt ever been in the majors yet. Paps proved how valuable he can be as a starter or a setup man, and took the playoff push in stride with a 1.49 ERA in September and pitched 4.1 scoreless innings againt the white sox in the ALDS.

plus its still too early to make projections as the offseason has just begun

I know ESPN hates the Dodgers so much, but they are goddamn right about the Dodgers' rank as of right now. I'll take that back, the Reds are better than the Dodgers.

The Guardians had a lot of career years last year and still didn't make the playoffs. I understand they're young and they had a tough start, but I would hardly call them #1. What happened to earning respect? What have they earned? The White Sox finished second behind the Twins three years in a row, with a sizable better skill-level, but they had to win a championship before they got anything. And also, why the hell do they even have power rankings yet? Who knows what happens in the offseason...for all we know the Brewers could be one of the top teams (maybe in a couple of years). Ridiculous and pointless...

Well...this is also coming from a network that predicted the Cubs and Twins would be in the World Series with the Cubs winning a World Series. So I can see how dumb they are.

26. Pittsburgh Pirates: The Pirates' rich, young talent is surfacing just in time for Jim Tracy's arrival in the Steel City. Zach Duke was brilliant in his '05 debut, and there's more where that came from. Still, the Pirates will lack offensive firepower around Jason Bay, one of the game's unsung performers. The Bucs are built more for '07 and beyond.

... built for '07? ESPN is turning to pure s***.
