now thats what i call a damn good rotation. i did hear on WEEI that the Oakland A's is a probability for a Wells trade and Zito (like Bronson) will have an arbitration offseason as the team has a club option on him. hmmm

--Oakland A's get Wells, Abe Alvarez and another prospect (i forgot that Wade Miller could also be trade bait since Sox still have the club option on him as well)

--Red Sox get Zito, relief pitcher Kiko Calero, and maybe one of their prospects who is in the early stages

where can I sign up for that ??!

If you were the oakland A's, why on earth would you ever want to do that trade? I could see a Wells, Shoppach, and Arroyo deal, maybe. I doubt they would give up Calero in that deal though. And how is miller trade bait, typically an injured guy who was limited to 16 starts with an ERA above 5 isn't very enticing trade bait. Turn the difficulty level past rookie and turn fair trades back on in MVP, man. Its getting to you.

dude dont even start with me. i was naming names off the top of my head. im not like "jimmy carter05"

remember that i said wells, abe alavrez and another prospect which could be kelly shoppach. Wells has requested he'd like to go to a team on the West and he always delivers for big games, enticing for the A's none-the-less. And Arroyo if any trade involving him, it would most likely be involved in a 1st baseman deal.

If we're going to trade Shopp do it now while he still has value. Only reason I wouldn't use Arroyo in that is becuase it's more important for us to get Huff in TB.

def agree with you on that one. tampa bay wouldnt balk at arroyo considering besides kazmir they are in desperate need of starting pitching. and arroyo pitches well in domed stadiums. And Aubrey Huff with or without Manny in the lineup will sure to put some offensive numbers for the sox. is also more of a defensive player that millar was at 1st base and when playing the outfield.

dont get me wrong, arroyo's my boy. but with the impressing debut of papelbon; that makes arroyo the odd man out (not likely to accept a position in the bullpen as he has indicated in interviews).

In 2007, Mark Buehrle and Chris Carpenter have team options for 2008. In 2008, Jake Peavy and Rich Harden both have team options for 2009. It's safe to assume those options will be picked up. The pitching market is a little light this year and next, but after that it gets interesting. The Halladay/Oswalt/Beckett sweepstakes will be interesting in 2007. It will take mega-bucks to land Santana in 2008.

I think the Red Sox will be best served by starting Papelbon next year to let him start his MLB learning curve as a starter. The same thing goes for Lester and Sanchez in 2007. They will be free from Schilling's and Clement's contracts in the 2007 offseason. That gives them a lot of money in the pitching rich 2007 FA market and some abililty to go after Santana in 2008.

EDIT: D-Train doesn't hit the market until the end of the 2009 season.

Not saying your wrong just wondering how you figured this out. Willis has pitched 3 years in the majors, and hasn't extended a contract, so it would seem like he'd be eligible for free agency after 2008. http://www.hardballdollars.com has Oswalt only signed through 2006, sabathia locked up through 2008, and Mark Prior a free agent after 2006 also.

Here's the site I used: mlb4u.com

EDIT: I went and backchecked the individual contracts on the team pages of the same site. Prior and Oswalt are FAs after 2006. Sabathia is under contract until 2008, so my advice to mlb4u users is, check the team pages because the FA listings are wrong.
