I still think the stros can win this series. They go back home where they play very well. I can seen this being like the 01 World Series when the home team wins every ball game. That said game 4 you have Backe going and in game 5 you dont know who is starting AND to top it off you have to wonder about Lidge now who threw up a meatball to Podsednik.

you're kidding me, right? you actually are complaining about a team getting 'overdue credit' and 'gay opening slanted towards chicago'? did you WATCH last years world series? i was rooting for the BoSox, but dude... it was so slanted in favor of Boston that you'd really have to be completely incabable of unbiased analysis in order to assume fox didn't slant against the Cardinals.

FOX talks about your rotation like Houston doesn't have one AT ALL. Yeah, congrats for having four complete games in the ALCS, but don't keep talking about it because Anaheim doesn't know how to take pitches. I'll still take Pettitte, Clemens and Oswalt on three days rest over your five guys anyday. Who's Freddy Garcia... some guy that went 4-7 in Seattle last year? Who's Jon Garland... didn't he have an ERA near five last year? Jose Contreras... I can't figure out whether he's on the Chi-Sox or Yankees, it changes every year. Orlando Hernandez... 5.12 ERA. Buehrle's always been good.

Enough said. Shut up about the GREATNESS... most of these guys were nothing before this year. Stop comparing the Cubs and White Sox in Chicago -- no one cares, neither have won anything. I'll take ANYBODY over FOX.

Its weird October without drama in my house. '03 was round 1. '04 was round 2, and the World Series sweep. This year just kinda was a down year. It's peaceful to not lose my voice and scream and yell, but I sorta wish I could get amped for the games.

Heh, people seemed to care about the Red Sox last year. What did they win before that?

See, thanks for the compliment. We're winning with guys that no one thought would ever be successful, while you won with a 110+ million dollar payroll. Sounds like bitterness to me.

We have gotten NO respect all year, none, nada, zero, zilch. Yet your team gets another lovefest and finally people start talking about us and YOU get all pissed off? Oh come on dude, we've lived through this BS and the lovefest between the media and Red Sox for the past 5 years. We have four guys that have went out this postseason and dominated. Can the Astros say that? They've had not-so-good starts from both Clemens and Pettitte, with Oswalt being the only dominate man. I think they deserve more respect.

And you talk as if the Red Sox are the most successful team ever...they won a World Series last year, good for them. But you don't have to act like you're the fking king after one World Series. Since when have the Red Sox been such a successful franchise, last time I checked they just won something last year.

IMHO, I think people do care, not about the White Sox in general but this World Series. These first two games have been two of the most exciting World Series games in awhile. Maybe I'm biased, but this is coming from a baseball fan perspective. Two teams, neither with superstars, that just go out and work their asses off and do whatever possible to win ball games. These two games have been phenomenal, and I hope it continues.

You still sound pretty bitter man. Anaheim not being able to take pitches has something to do with why they threw 4 complete games, but the pitching still has to be good. You make it sound like the only reason they threw even 1 complete game was because the Angels are free swingers.

The fact that the White Sox have brought in some guys who haven't done much elsewhere and made them a great pitching staff is a positive ... not a negative. How can you bash a team for having good enough coaches to get the full potential out of pitchers? "Hey don't come talking to me about developing talent ... that means nothing." Sorry Mr. Steinbrenner ... we'll amke sure we only acquire fully developed talent ... otherwise we can't brag about it.

So quickly people forget ... 86 years ... 86 years ... lets not act like we've been winning 1 a decade.

Is it just me or does Sox fan in Tex appear to be on the rag lately?

Brad Lidge has been anything but what he was in the regular season, been looking shaky since pitching against the cards. He has given up 5 ER in 9.1 innings (4.82 ERA). He has also walked 6 in that span.

Dye freely admitted afterward that Astros reliever Dan Wheeler did not hit him with a 3-2 pitch with two outs in the seventh, yet Nelson sent him to first, loading the bases for Konerko. "The umpire told me to go to first base, so I went to first base," Dye said. "I didn't argue with him. It was a big break for us."

if more gift calls are done in this postseason for the white sox, im sorry but it could start looking fishy

If he was a Yankee fan, he'd fit right in at the YES boards.

funny, cuz you're signature says 'history will never accept difficulties as an excuse'...

oh, and no one here could define these calls as 'gifts'. that implies an umpiring crew giving the sox an unfair advantage. you're talking like the sox wouldn't even have made the playoffs if not for 'gift' calls. they're just terrible. it's the umpiring that got em there. paulie didn't hit that grand slam. scotty didn't hit that walk-off homer. those pitchers didn't pitch those complete games. it was all gifted

c'mon, guys- you guys won last year and you earned it. why, all of the sudden, are you turning hypocrite and blaming everyone except the Astros for their own failures. you guys posted the same garbage on the Angels. These teams didn't make the playoffs by mistake. they're GOOD. we're BEATING them..

I for one am not surprised at all. I predicted the Sox would win in 5 games max. Lidge was terrible in the NLCS. The game before he gave up the GW HR to Pujols, he put men on 1st and 3rd with no outs in the 9th. The guy is not Mo. he reminds me more of Armando Benitez. Great regular season guy (pick him for your fantasy squad), but will choke in the playoffs. Before the Series is done, Lidge will give up another HR. He'll either come back with a great regular season next year or fade into obscurity like Mitch Williams after giving up that Series winner to Joe Carter

noo but in the end, the white sox are able to cash in on umpiring mistakes and fielding errors by the opposing teams. yes paul konerko was able too hit the grand slam because dye was "hit" by the pitch, thus loading the bases for the white sox's best slugger

Watching this series is like watching SD Jones versus Hulk Hogan. Sure he'd get his shots in but you knew Hogan would Hulk up at the end and come through

'history will never accept difficulties as an excuse'. c'mon, man. a lesser team would not capitalize on those calls. a lesser team would leave 3 runners stranded. we're a world series championship CONTENDER. we have some talent, you know. although, it appears from this board that the umps are doing most of the work for us. no matter that it's an entirely different crew than the ALCS. and is a veteran crew. and there is no instant replay, so an ump thinking the ball hit the hitter instead of the bat has no recourse. it's part of the game, just like when a ball hits the outfield ball boy (happened to dye yesterday and let tavaras go to third. tavaras scored.

funny, you didn't mention THAT. must be all conspiracy, right?

yeah, you'd better check on the foil you're wearing on your head, jeffrey maier.

Does anyone else here find Jenks FB to be a little flat? I mean, don't get me wrong, that velocity is impressive and most aren't going to catch up to it. That said, it is straight as an arrow IMO. A good FB hitter can give one of those a ride.

i agree... his velocity was a good 5 mph less on average tonight. he was hitting 100 last night, 95 with regularity tonight. unless he feared that houston would pick up timing on his fastball (i don't know how they would be able to do that, but it's possible) and went with more offspeed and breaking stuff (which he did, actually), his velocity is suffering.

i noticed it too, though. good points.

you think this whole thing is fixed???

what are you talking about. I am not Riverside sluggers nor some of the other people you been arguing with. I'll ignore your stupid Maier remark if you kindly turn your paranoia elsewhere. I made the reference about Hogan to the comeback fight of the White Sox, not anything about it being fixed.

yeah, uh, you're dumb.

-contreras has only been traded once- if that's hard for you to follow, we should put the blame squarely on contemporary public school curriculum standards.

-Jon Garland is Jon Garland. he had 3 shutouts this year, won 18 games, pitched in the all-star game, and threw a 5 hitter in the ALCS.

-Freddy Garcia finished third in the Cy Young voting in 2001, won 18 games that year, won 14 this year (should have won 17- he lost several after leaving with the lead), and threw a one-hitter that he lost. he also was the best road and day pitchers in baseball this year. i'd be happy to introduce you.

-orlando hernandez is not in the rotation. he came in and gave one of the finest relief performances in playoff history against boston and their great lineup. he hasn't thrown since.

you seem to be letting emotion dictate analysis. i'd hold my tongue a bit longer. you just didn't make sense on this one... but you got it right saying my boy Buehrle has always been good- one of the most underappreciated pitchers in all of baseball.

my mistake, buddy- my apologies. i thought you were implying the whole 'fixed like wrestling thing'. sorry for snapping. i apologize.

No sweat...I'm really enjoying the Series btw. The White Sox have been impressing the hell out of me since those complete games in a row. I thought the team was lightweight, but they proved me wrong.

You are right, it was a little slower than game 1. However, by 'flat' I meant that it doesn't move much. It doesn't tail left or right, up or down.

I couldn't have agreed more...I'll give Chicago their due, but it helps when ALL of the breaks seem to go their way.

I'm not saying the umps are giving the games to chicago, but it helps when your players get extra opportunities to get the job done. I still think FOX is overplaying the whole 1917 feel good story angle much like last year with Boston. Is it too much to ask for a little neutrality as a national network. f***! You'd think you were watching WGN or TBS.

And let me preface my earlier rants by saying YES! I am still bitter and am a sore loser.

Props to Chicago for getting the job done. I didn't think they would....
