Yeah Eckstein didn't really get enough credit for what he did. Pujols's homerun was a MONSTER shot one of the longest homeruns I have seen in a long long time. And what a homerun it was.

Everyone remembers Buckner and Fisk, but not Bob Stanler or Bernie Carbo. It's the end result that matter to people, and too often the unsung heros are overlooked. I think Roberts isn't overlooked because of how purely awesome that steal was and what it meant for that game.

Yeah and if Edmonds K-ed (wouldn't have been surprising), Pujols wouldn't even get to the plate. They needed to drive home the runs, that was the biggest problem - not hitting w/ ppl ON base.

 

All the credit in the world to Eckstein, though. 2 strikes doesn't daunt him at all.

Eckstein's deal is less than half of Renteria or Cabrera's.

 

But he does play in a different league, and he's just a good fit for what STL does. Boston doesn't...bunt very much.
