I have a feeling Gordon stays here or goes to you guys.

Just a feeling. But Philly is definately a possibility.

I don't see him coming back, he wants to be a closer, I like him, but he knows thats not gunna happen here.

Thats why I'm now nervouse about what were gunna do for MR, I expected for us to get Ryan, and now hes gone..?

Scott Proctor, Matt Smith, etc.. (we have some good arms in the minors that will be in camp)

Also, mentioned earlier in the thread the possibility of signing some of the not-so-notable relievers out there.

I think we'll be ok.

lol, I'm not all to ready to rely on Scott Proctor, I always liked him cuz he has the same name as my school(Proctor), but he did show me much last season...

Scott Proctor has a great arm but lefties eat him for lunch. If they wanted to maximize Scptt Proctor they would work on another pitch besides his fastball to get lefties out or just have him face righties who hit 217 off of him.

If we lose Gordon we get a 1st rounder right? I'm not sure if hes a type A player.

Without looking it up, he has to be. I'm pretty sure Mike Timlin was and Gordan has pitching better than him. You wouldn't get a first rounder if he goes to a team with a top 10 pick or the team he goes to signs a higher ranked type A, then you'd get their second rounder and either way you get a supplemental pick in between the first and second round. I believe the Red Sox type A free agents are Mueller, Millar, and Graffanino.

edit:

found the link. Gordan is type A. Obviously I forgot Johnny damon for the Sox. Matt Lawton and his automatic 10 day suspension is the only other Yankee on the list. Heres the complete list.

NEW YORK POST

November 29, 2005 -- While the Mets made back-page news again yesterday by landing Billy Wagner, the Yankees took steps toward rebuilding their bullpen.

According to several industry sources, the Yankees are engaged in serious negotiations with flame-throwing, right-handed setup man Kyle Farnsworth and are very close to inking lefty specialist Mike Myers.

Having done a background on Farnsworth by calling the Tigers, one of the two teams the 29-year-old pitched for last year, and receiving positive reports, the Yankees have talked with agent Barry Meister in parameters but as of late last night no offer had been made.

The Braves, who acquired Farnsworth from the Tigers and used him in 26 games, wanted Farnsworth back to close but were wary of paying him in the $5 million range. He made $1.97 million last year.

The Yankees, who desperately need a reliable arm in front of Mariano Rivera, could be willing to do a four-year deal for $19 million or a three-year pact for $15 million to secure Farnsworth's 97 mph fastball, filthy slider and competitive nature.

According to a Tigers source, questions about Farnsworth's makeup weren't an issue with the Tigers.

"He is an individual who thinks differently at times but he wasn't a problem for us," the source said. "He is very quiet. You hardly know he is around."

Farnsworth did get into a fight with former Tiger reliever Ugueth Urbina but that didn't stand out because, according to the source, "Urbina fought with everybody."

Farnsworth appeared in 46 games for the Tigers and was used as the closer when Troy Percival went down. In 432/3 innings Farnsworth allowed 29 hits, fanned 55, walked 20 and converted six of eight save chances. With the Braves he allowed 15 hits in 27 innings, fanned 32, walked seven and was 10-for-10 in save situations.

His nuclear fastball is death on lefties and righties since the former batted .197 (23-for-117) and the latter .165 (21-for-127) against Farnsworth.

The Yankees, who crave power arms, aren't as leery as other organizations about pitchers the Braves don't bring back. Even after Steve Karsay and Chris Hammond didn't pan out in The Bronx.

As for Myers, the 36-year-old appeared in 65 games for the Red Sox last year, posting a 3-1 record and 3.13 ERA.

Not since Mike Stanton's first tour of duty have the Yankees had a reliable lefty that handled left-handed hitters. That's Myers specialty and he did it well last year when lefties batted .158 (15-for-95). In the last three seasons lefties hit .208 (57-for-247) against Myers, who has pitched for the Tigers, Marlins, Brewers, Diamondbacks, Red Sox and Mariners.

He made $600,000 last year.

Yankees asked the Mariners if they were going to trade Ichiro Suzuki and were left with the impression they weren't.

I read this morning, and Becket95 posted earlier, that it looks like we might be getting Mike Myers. He didnt look that great last year and at the start of this one (imo), but he did impress me a little bit as time went on. What can you guys tell me about him?

Nothing of significance, just a personal thing I thought I would share ;)

Remember how we were talking about ticket prices 2 pages back, well appearantly a VERY CLOSE family friend has a brother who is a very well respected New York City Detective. His LT. appearantly just gave him Season Tickets, Championship Boxes, all 81 games (Police Dept. is a pretty good connection ;) ). Thing is, this detective is not that big a baseball fan, just a casual fan.

Take a guess who gets to go to a lot of the games that he is unable to go to...

..time's up.

A: ME!!

I was in bliss when I heard this, it is some of the most amazing news I have gotten recently. It's been a pretty rough couple of months, this definately helps!

December 16th they go on sale at the Stadium, I dont know the date they go on sale online. I would try December 16-17 for Auction sites, im sure people will be buying them on the morning of the 16th and auctioning them off.

The Yankees have picked up a new back-up catcher; free agent Kelly Stinnentt has been signed to a one year deal worth $650,000.

Not that bad, dont mind it much. Still hopeful that we get either Hammock or Lo Duca. IS this a Minor League deal? If so, then Stinnett could just be getting a shot to win the position in ST, and not so much be guaranteed the spot.

oh believe me I think he will be your backup catcher. He was RJ's personal catcher in Arizona so goodbye Flaherty and hello to Stinnett. I guess Randy has no love for Posada.

Haha Stinnett is one fuggily guy, if you dont mind me saying so.

Yahoo! Sports: Yankees sign free agent C Stinnett

November 30, 2005

BRONX, New York (Ticker) - Randy Johnson is being reunited with his old catcher. The New York Yankees on Wednesday signed Kelly Stinnett, who had been a teammate of Johnson's with the Arizona Diamondbacks, to a one-year contract. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The 35-year-old Stinnett batted .248 with six home runs and 12 RBI in 59 games with Arizona last season, his second stint with the Diamondbacks. He also was the Diamondbacks' catcher from 1998-2000. In 10 seasons with the New York Mets, Milwaukee Brewers, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies and Diamondbacks, Stinnett has a career batting average of .239 in 667 games.

funny post on the YES boards

A caller on The Michael Kay Show just suggested that the Yankees get rid of Sierra and Sheffield, move Matsui to CF, send Crosby to LF, and put... Mark Bellhorn in right field because "he's a hustler."

Man, Kay attracts a brilliant audience, doesn't he?

I'd like to get some of what that guy is smoking.

Like half of the people from NY are Yankees fans, and only half of those are true Yankee fans, they all just like em becuase of "represent" or "16 rings". Thats why I appreciate almost all the Yankee fans here, mostly.

I did not realize he was his personal catcher in Arizona. I thought last year was his first in Arizona. My mistake. I just wish we could have gotten someone more versatile like Lo Duca (plays 1B and corner outfield) or Hammock (plays 3B and Corner Outfield). But Stinett works.
