best offense: Manny with his 2 big shots (44th, too bad it only ammounted to 3 RBIs). Tony G got it done going 3 for 3 with his solo HR (7th of season, 4th with Sox) and he had a stolen base. Johnny's gota 7 game hirring streak and had a stolen base.

dishonorable mention: sox offense is still struggling (HRs aside) at the plate here at Fenway. Bill Mueller's batting has gone cold since coming back from the road trip. Tek was pinch hitter not until the 9th inning

best defense: Trot's grab. Rent especially cleaning solid D still

best pitching: Mike Stanton in his 1st Red Sox outing delivered a great outing, including a K and sweet move of picking off Cano. despite umps' bad call that Matsui didnt go out of the baseline, yea running onto the grass is f***ing in the line, asses. Dinardo still got out of a bases loaded and 1 out jam, giving up just 1 run. Hansen did have a respectable 1st outing against the Yankees

dishonorable mention: much love for Wake, but it showed 3 days rest had hurt him. If a game is se for Monday, Sox vs Indiand, Clement will take the ball on just 3 days rest as well.

take a look back at the stats what he has done for the sox past week. bases loaded/2 outs, not a good percentage for any batter. strike 2 was called on a low ball that couldve been ball 4 and walked in a run. dide he strike out on 3 pitches? no he had worked a 10 pitch at bat. You're never ending complaints about renterria is just assinine and no one except for the now defunct "guybo" has agreed with you.

Stop fanboying on Rent. He had several opportunities with runners on. Yes, Johnson is tough to hit, but that doesn't put Rent beyond some criticism.

I agree, Stanton looked VERY good today. It still looks weird seeing him in that uniform lol but what are ya gonna do. I wonder why he didnt get his old number 32 back, nobody has it I dont believe.

that was a horrible call with the Matsui thing. the umps were not that good all game, on both sides.

Yes Matsui should have been out, but I guess it didn't really make a difference. I think the ump's argument was he couldn't make the tag anyway. At least that's what my amateur lip reading told me.

Umpires sucked today.

yea it really couldnt have made a difference if he was called out. Your theory on why he wasnt called out was my original assumtion as well, it didnt look like he would have made the tag either way. And Matsui leaving the basepath looked to be because he didnt want to get hit in the face by the throw like what happened to posada last year.

also on another note concernign todays game (and forgive me if this was addressed in the 25 pages prior to my first post in this thread) but does anybody besides me think that Fox was HORRIBLE today? Just the entire game was very annoying, how they kept switching to the Guardians/White Sox and just all the technical errors (small black boxes showing up in the middle of the screen, sound glitches, etc..). If there wasnt a 3 or 4 second delay I would have turned on the radio and listened to Sterling and Waldman. But that damn delay is annoying too, hearing the play a few seconds before I see it (didnt stop me from turning it on in the 9th though to hear Sterlings famous "ballgame over, American League East over, Yankees win, thaaaaaaaaaaa Yankees Winnnnn").

It almost depresses me knowing that after the ALDS its going to be exclusively FOX.

Very, very good point. I was watching the game with my son and we were going ballistic. Its one thing to give a quick update, its totally different if you take the featured game and stick it in a small screen in the corner. Time and time again we said, " Do they have any idea what markets they're pissing off ? " Piss poor coverage by Fox.

yea, and if i remember correctly, we missed a few good plays in the outfield while we were on the small screen in the bottom righthand corner.

Yea, I was thinking, I'd rather just watch only the Yanees Sox, and I'll just look in the corner of the TV to see whos winning, that game really wasn't the center of my attention and maybe if it was only for 1 minuet, I'd watch ot, but it lasted like innings at a time

To top it off, one of the times that they panned over to the other game, it was right when the Cleveland announcers started doing their update of what was going on in Boston.

i know the Guardians/white sox was really a big game. but during the sox and yankees' at bats, well couldnt the annoying farts buck and McCarver just say whats going on in between their endless talk about nothing, much better than cutting to the Guardians game and the game we were trying to watch was in a small 6" screen that was blurry and no indication of even what the pitch count was. oh how I longed for Don and Jerry :(

I suggust that all who were pissed off send an e-mail to Fox.

i would but i know i wont get a response.

Other than the game interruptions, did anyone else feel disgusted when they were showing red sox fans and in background had played the song "everybody hurts"? I give Joe Buck some credit because even he was asking why is this song being played, but Tim McCarver was just laughing his wriggly ass off and played the song again when it showed Stephen King. Tim McCarver saying yeah haha I heard he has a new book called "Everybody hurts". Joe Buck replied, Would you turn that song off

anyone knows who would have home field in that yankees-angels series?

if it is indeed Yankees/Angels it would be the Yankees.

But as you guys know im still pullin for the Sox to lose tomorrow and the Guardians to win so that they could force a 1 game playoff on monday, which i would hope for cleveland to win so we dont have to play the Angels. Either way though we have home field for any series not against the White Sox.

well a win tomorrow for la and loss for the yankees they would be tied at 95-67. If such thing happens, which I hope, home field probably go to the Angels since they hold a 6-4 series win this season.

oh wow i thought the Angels were a few games back, so i guess home field has yet to be determined.

I just heard on the radio of probable starters for the White Sox series

Note: Orlando Hernandez will be the odd man out, not starting any games just long relief like would be the case for Bronson

Game 1: Jose Contrera

Game 2: Freddy Garcia

Game 3: Mark Buehrle

Game 4: Jon Garland

Game 5: Brandon McCarthy

Are you sure about that. The Angels are 1 game behind the Yanks. If the Yanks loose tommorrow and the Angels win, then they're tied. What's the tie breaker ? I thought the Angels had a better record head to head.

That is my ringtone on my cell phone. Im not scared of the White sox, Garland came back to earth in the 2nd half, we always beat Jose, I think the tough guy is gonna be Buehrle.

thats kind of surprising considering Dugue's postseason/big game success. You would think Guillen would factor that into his thinking despite how bad he's been lately. If I was Oz I would take him over Mccarthy.

I think something should also be said about playoff experince. We battle tested, the White sox arent, I think that could be a factor.
