Valid point, this does have the makings of an awesome final week. Whether the Red Sox or the Yankees end up winning the pennant, this is going to be one hell of a last 10 games.

Anyway, this is a disturbing trend. We get out to a 5+ lead and by the ninth, the tying run is at the plate and mo's arm is falling off.

I was talking about in just the last week, but that is a lot of one-run games. The great teams always win the close ones though.

agreed, I have always figured like all great match ups in boxing (Ali-Frazier)(Gatti-Ward)(Berrera-Moreles) the Yankees and the Red Sox would square off in a 3rd stright ALCS but our ALCS might be next week in Boston.

I know this isn't the right place to post it, but that Yanks-Sox game with Johnson and Schilling pitching vs each other is gunna be the matchup of the year, I think

 

 

Cuz the baseball specialists said Johnson hates(maybe not hates, but dislikes) Schilling beacuse of how they were talked about following the D-Bask WS Win, and that he only went to the Yankees to out preform Schilling, and if thats true, I wanna see how that game goes.

 

All in all, I cannot wait to see how these final 10 days go, it'll be the most into baseball I;ve ever had to be, cuz Ive never had to be in this situation, and since I don't think their'll be 2 AL East teams in th playoffs, I gotta see how this plays iout

this last 3 game series is the playoffs. one which will bring back the tension i felt last October, its exciting and tense at the same time, no sport else like this one. damn im not going to game 2, but still cool that i have tix for game 3, wakefield vs mussina is still a good matchup. Fenway Park will be rowdy as ever that is certain, even moreso if game 3 decides who wins and who goes home

this is ********. this game should never have been a save situation. Al looked great in the 7th, what the hell happened. I cant believe this, several of the games in the past week or so we have not been able to hold a big lead. Guys like Leiter, Embree, Sturtze, Proctor (etc) not being able to hold onto big leads is going to kill Mo and Flash.

 

This is so frustrating, I cant be satisfied that we won because of how our middle relief has been lately.

but now for some positives. Mussina was very good through his 6. Posada was fantastic tonight, A-Rod made another nice play (though the defense was iffy), Leiter was great in the 7th, overall it was a satisfying 7 innings of baseball...but after that it was just disgusting.

As it stands right now CLE is winning and the CWS are in a tie, so we will be 2-4 games out from both of those teams in terms of a wildcard as a backdoor. 2-4 games in a week Sounds like a lot, but CLE and CWS play each other in CLE, and if one team sweeps the other, as long as we win, the WC is a viable option. With that being said, we need to win at all cost, not just for the division, but for any hope at the playoffs period.

 

Edit, MIN just took a lead so here is how it looks outside the AL East...

 

CHW (Div Lead) 91-61 ... ...

CLE (WC Lead) 90-63 1.5 ...
