Orioles try to rebound without the Ailing Roberts

Baltimore (70-80) at New York (87-63), 7:05 p.m. ET

The Orioles lost more than a ballgame on Tuesday; they lost their sparkplug and leading hitter in Brian Roberts, who dislocated his left elbow in a collision at first base with the Yankees' Bubba Crosby. Roberts is likely lost for the season, and the Orioles eventually dropped a 12-9 decision. Now, they face Randy Johnson as they try to win their first game in this four-game set. Right-hander Rodrigo Lopez will go for the Orioles. He is vying to match his career high of 15 wins, which he set in his rookie season of 2002. Lopez has been able to win No. 15 in two attempts. In his previous start, Lopez allowed four runs in six innings and was charged with a loss to Tampa Bay.

Johnson, who was ejected from his start last Friday in Toronto for arguing balls and strikes, apologized to his teammates afterward. Johnson has had an uneven first season with the Yankees. He is tied for third in the American League with 30 home runs allowed in 204 1/3 innings. Johnson, however, has won one of his two starts against the Orioles, striking out 12 in 13 innings over those two outings.

Jay Gibbons continued to cement his status for next season with a two-run homer on Tuesday, his 23rd, matching his total from 2003. Gibbons hit just 10 home runs with 47 RBIs in an injury-plagued 2004 season.

It will be interesting to see how Randy bounces back from that last start. I predict it will be all or nothing with him tonight (like it has been for much of the season); either he'll channel all that rage from the last start and secure a series win, or he'll be frustrated beyond beleif and make the O's look like an All Star team. Who knows? :dunno:

Agreed, hes either going to be lights out or a disappointment.

We need this game tonight. I have a feeling Kazmir is going to shut down the Sox tonight and if that does indeed happen and we come away with a win we would be in 1st place for the 3rd time all season (first week of season, the day we spent there mid-way, and then hopefully tonight).

Why are the Yankee game threads being made before the Sox game threads? This is a Red Sox message board you know.

When did I say that Wakefield would not be good. All I said is that I expect Kazmir to shut you guys down. Whise to say that it wont be a 1-0 win for Tampa (and whise to say that it wont be a 1-0 win for Boston). The purpose of my post was not to say that Wakefield sucked or anything, just to say that I think kazmir is going to be good tonight.

Honestly, I dont give a s*** what you think. Its pretty sad if you prioritze making a Yankees game thread on a Red Sox message board over homework. It seems like its pretty important to you. I wasnt calling you out, or trying to fight with you, I was just thinking that since this is a Red Sox message board, maybe you should make the Red Sox game thread first... but wait, you are the King of talksox, so I suppose its ok...

All hail to the King of talksox, riverside sluggers. He can do what he wants when he wants, but if anyone else does something, its ok for him to get on your ass...

Honestly, just shut the f*** up. Everyone. This is the internet. If you wanna swap addresses through PM to go duke it out, go for it. But online fighting is retarded.

And for the record, he made an innocent comment, RS. You were the one that went on a shitfest...

Okay, I'm done :D

Respect for Bubba Crosby: +10

They just said on the pre-game that after last night's game, Bubba visited Brian Roberts in the hospital. Great to see from a player these days.
