The Yankees are gonna fold like a house of cards. 5 days from now their only hope will be for either Chicago or Cleveland to lose every remaining game.

I've been a Yankee fan for a very long time. What I've noticed over the years is that it really doesn't matter how you win -- it only matters whose ahead in score at the end of the game.

When Mariano Rivera was pitching in the 9th inning of the 2001 World Series, every Yankee fan in the US was thinking -- "We won another World Series" -- Mo was the one -- the infallible. But he screwed up. In actuality the way we were playing we shouldn't have even gotten to the 7th game of that series. In actuality the way the Red Sox were playing last ALCS -- you shouldn't have gotten to the 7th game -- but you did. As I've said before -- "It ain't over til it's over", and "Stranger things have happened". Let's just see what happens this next week. We have just as good a chance as you guys do. Maybe you should humble yourself out a little and admit that.

Whereas Jaret Wright is one of the unluckiest pitchers to ever wear pinstripes, Small is one of the luckiest. Gives up 4 runs in 5 innings and still takes a win...

Tell you one thing about these Yankees....

Yep, they're putting up runs by the baker's dozen plus a few for good measure, but.....

BUT......

The opponent keeps coming back at them with almost as many runs.

Betcha they can't put them up like that as often as they hand them out like that. The Yankees are gonna fold like a house of cards. 5 days from now their only hope will be for either Chicago or Cleveland to lose every remaining game.

Hand over the crystal ball! I want to see tonight's lotto numbers!

You know what's funny? The night a NESN commentator calls Sheff 'selfish,' he hits a grand slam that ends up being the difference in the game.

Yes hands down Gordon and Mo are best end of game pitchers compared to Sox

We still have trusted relievers in Timlin, Papelbon, Delcarmen, DiNardo and Hansen---Bradford and Myers are both reliable when they are used in lefty/righty situations. I dont think you realize that this is the best month the Sox bullpen has had in a bit.

Al Leiter a reliable reliever, you say huh? in September in 3 games (1 started) he has a 7.20 ERA. Let alone alot of times batters are able to make contact with his pitches, a .292 opposing batting avg is not something to hold onto for your relievers to have.

September in 3 games (9.2 innings) 17 Hits, 10 Runs (7 ER), 2 Walks, 5 Ks

you do realize that just this past week yankees for the first time in awhile were able to go over the 500 mark on the road, so dont act all high and mighty right there.

Sox 38-39

Yanks 38-36

I would take Al Leiter in the lefty/lefty spot over Embree ANY f***ING DAY OF THE WEEK. A lot of people think that Embree wouldnt be good in that spot because of all the walks, but actually he hasnt walked a lefty batter all year.

Also, I wouldnt call 4 rookies reliable. Not to take anything away from them, but if the setup guys for the Yanks were rookies they would be far from reliable in Boston fans' eyes just for the reason that theyre rookies.

Also, he wasnt acting "high and mighty" he was simply stating that you guys dont play great ball on the road, which cannot be denied as you guys are 1 game under .500. Everything doesnt have to be an arguement.

As for Small, there is no doubt that he has been great for us this year. But I have to think he's going to be booted from the rotation in favor of Mussina. If you think about it, hes really not lights out anymore, seems like the league has caught up to him a little (and this isnt taking anything away from Small, im happy I was wrong about him because I was NOT in favor of calling him up to replace Brown.) because his last 2 starts have been against bad teams (lets be realstic, the Rays and Orioles are bad teams. Theyre not horrible but they definately arent good.) and he has given up runs. The only reason he won his last 2 games is because we rallied for him (Devil Rays, Cano GS) or just gave him a lot of run support (yesterday). If he stays in the rotation he would be on tap to face Boston on that last Friday, and I can honestly say that I would not be comfortable, based on his recent starts, with him throwing to the Red Sox in a game that huge. So I say we stick him in the pen, and if Wright struggles in his next start, flip-flop them. Wright would be good to have in the pen with his power arm, but based on his starts since coming off the DL he has been fantastic, so even though he got hurt last time out he deserves to stay in the rotation for now.

NESN is so anti-Yankee its ridiculous. The only things that can possibly be considered anti-Boston on YES are The Party Poker thing (which is on both networks) and Ultimate Road Trip, which is the view of fans, not the network. NESN always has something to say about the Yankees. They spend a good portion of their postgame pointing out negatives on the Yankees, some commercials throw little things in there (i dont remember off the top of my head which ones, but next time i see one I will share exactly which commercial it is), seems like 3 out of 5 "Stories From Red Sox Nation" have something to do with the Yankees. And anything Sox-related is the same way, the media and fans in Boston spend as much time on the Yankees as they do the Red Sox, so Im not surprised Sheffield is getting labeled on NESN. Same thing happened with Giambi and A-Rod in the past (among others im sure) so its really not that big a deal.

And before you Sox fans jump on me, I am not denying that we dont focus a lot on you guys as well, but just not to the degree that you guys do on us.

Yeah, I don't see Small being in the rotation after Moose comes back. If Joe sends Wang (Last start: 8.0 IP, 7 H, 2 ER) or Chacon (8.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER) to the pen over Small (5.0 IP, 10 H, 4 ER), well, there might be a rebellion in the Empire.

Yes Exactly, but we stil cant take anything away from Small. Hes just going to be the odd man out based on his performance VS bad teams.

i certainly wouldnt trust him next Friday night in Boston, would you?

No, not with his last 3 starts.

Thanks Aaron for all you did, though. Without you, the Red Sox are already putting together their play off rotation, I'm optimistic...about next season, and Torre is likely back home resting on all that $$$ Steinbrenner would owe him.

point being you cant act like yankees are dominating on the road when just this past week they went over .500, so really its close to split even on paper
