Chacin, Chacon on Re-Match Collision Course

New York (84-62) at Toronto (72-74), 4:07 p.m. ET

The Blue Jays scored seven unanswered runs but came up short against the Yankees, 11-10, on Friday in the first game of a three-game series at the Rogers Centre. Left-hander Gustavo Chacin will take the mound for Toronto on Saturday. The rookie is 1-3 in his last eight starts, but he has gone 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA in two outings in September. In his last start, Chacin picked up a no-decision after allowing two runs in 7 2/3 innings in Tampa Bay on Sept. 10. Chacin will be making his second start this season against New York's Shawn Chacon. The last time the two met, Chacon came out on top after giving up just two runs in seven innings on Aug. 25 in the Bronx. Chacin yielded six runs in 5 2/3 innings.

Chacon is 4-2 in his last six starts. The right-hander lost to Boston in his last outing. He gave up five runs in just three innings in that Sept. 10 start.

I have faith in Chacon. He has been an answered prayer since coming over in July, though it is no secret that he has had games where he has struggled. But all in all he has been more than what we could have asked of him.

Chacon has had a few shaky starts in a row...it'll be interesting to see if he can get back on track today.

On a separate note, I expect to see something big happen today. Both A Rod and the Captain were hit last night, there were even rumors (at this point) of A Rod breaking something (forearm, I believe.) Chacon seems like the kind of pitcher who would not be afraid to respond to that kind of thing.

Doesn't matter what Chacon does today. The Yankees offense is going to literally rape Chacin out on that mound today.

Prediction: 9-5 Yankees.

White Sox is having the "1978 Red Sox Syndrome" this month, they are currently behind the Twins in the 4th inning 4-0. If Cleveland wins tonight, it will be cut to a 3 1/2 lead, they used to hold a 15 game lead on the Guardians

A game-winning RBI can come in any inning of the ballgame. That is why they tend to favor the RISP and Close-and-Late splits to determine how "clutch" a player performs.
