He should have been shut down two weeks ago. I've heard the same thing about Hughes, who was shut down.

Yeah at the begining of the year Hughes had slight shoulder tendonitis. So the Yankees decided to cut his season short this year just to be careful. This is what I heard from a scout that covers the RiverDogs (The team he plays for). He should be fine for next season.

Eeven when he strikes out 5 of 6 batters in three days, then gets out of a bases loaded 0 out jam without giving up a run, all in Fenway?

before tonight's game, Gordon against Sox in 2005 in 8 games had an ERA of 5.87, so hasnt really had Sox's number in 2005

Well I think Damon's error let things get out of hand.

Sierra-out, Posada-Millar bobble, Cano-single, Lawton-out. Three outs if Millar makes that play. Tie game, 4-4.

Sanchez is only 21 and is somewhat inexperienced because he hasn't always been a pitcher. I think they needed to keep a closer eye on his inning count. Shoulder tenderness was the report that had him leave a game early two weeks ago, but he has pitched twice since, so I'm not overly concerned about his future. I think he is just gassed.

Likewise, Aaron Small would have a shutout if it wasnt for Matt Lawton's crappy fielding

I told you guys Lawton blows in the field when you signed him, but no one wanted to believe me.

Yeah, you just have to be careful with these guys. There a thin line....you want them to get seasoned in the minors but you have to take care of their arms.

I heard he had bad knees, I never thought of him as a fielder. But who knows, it might have cost more to get Winn. :thumbdown

Sox need to improve on their defense tomoroow. Today we've seen Tony G throw the ball way off from where Millar was to get in the 1st run, Damon misplying outfield ball, Edgar misplaying the ball to let runner to get to third and posada to score. and millar staying down on the ground after stopping the ball from rolling past him...

Every aspect of Winn's game is better than Lawton's.

I know, he just hit for the cycle. :o I wanted Winn but no one else wanted him.

Bradford has an ERA in the mid 2's, isnt he a better option in that situtation?

Yeah, well he showed how big his nuts are by walking Jeter.

I never understood that. I heard the Yankees had no intrest in Winn because he couldnt play CF but yet they pick up Lawton who cant play a lick in the OF. Now Winn is the CF in SF.

I think the reason is that teams love Lawton before he's actually on their team. You could ask the Pirates and Cubs about that.

Oh well not really upset with this loss. The Yanks had to use most of their bullpen for the 2nd night in a row. Gordon threw 25 pitches, and Mo was close to 20. I think eventhough we lost tonight we set ourselves up to win the next two.

best Sox pitching: Chad Harville in his first scoreless inning with 2 Ks and Jeremi Goinzalez pitching a scoreless eighth.

dishonorable mention: David Wells in otherwise lackluster performance followed by Chad Bradford who couldnt getting any outs giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and a walk

defense: what cost the Sox the game

best offense: Bill Mueller breaking out of his slump going 3 for 4

dishonorable mention: just 4 Runs on 11 hits, and 2 Walks. 11 men left on base altogether

Guys like Small, Byrd and Macarthy give Sox hitters fits. It only proves you don't need to blow people away with heat.

This whole game came down to stopping them in the 6th and Bradford couldn't do it.
