Calling pitches, he's horrible & very predictable. Even my 12 yr old brothers calls it when there's 2 strikes on a hitter, it's either a FB inside or a high FB. I know that alot of you are going to tear me a new one but it's true .... :dunno:

you really have no idea what you are talking about.

Would you rather have jorge posada? Varitek's a very good catcher, might not be that manly, but he's a very good catcher.

Yeah but he has no balls, as you astutely pointed out on your board.

I agree, Tek's a very good captain & a very good DEFENSIVE catcher but he's very predictable in the pitch calling department.. Oh &, lets take it easy on the ignorant remarks YANKEESSUCK ... ty ...

of course i'll take it easy on him because he's telling the truth. Varitek is not the frigging Sox player to bash on, dumbass

Who's bashing Tek? I'm just questioning his talent for calling pitches ... dumbass? .... wow ....

are you going to bash on varitek's ability to call pitches? my god man...wells is coming of a complete game...clement is 13-3 and wakefield is 14-10...papolbon was great in his first 2 starts, giving up 1-2 runs in each one...that wasn't all the rookie though, varitek had something do with it... and boston has the 2nd best record in the american league...don't bash on varitek dumb ass and go take your sorry posts on the yankee forum :harhar:

His talent for calling pitches? Do you pitch to him every 5th day? How do you know if he call's a good game or not?

Dude, even my roaches can predict a high FB on an 0-2 count. Tek goes FB crazy even with pitchers that don't have a good-great FB & we all know it's true. As a Cap I agree, he's one if not the best Cap in the league but I am not questioning that, I am questioning his talent for calling pitches which is average to horrible.

All of which are good pitchers pitching behind a GREAT OFFENSE "DUMB ASS!!!", Belli's better at calling pitches then Tek is ....

Posted
good pitchers?duh they certainly are, but wakefield and wells are 43 and 42 years old...of course wakefield only throws it about 80mph best...but why don't you call pitchs while trying getting a 40+ pitcher to throw a complete game against a major league team?
Posted
First of all, Belli catches Wake moron ( I'm joining in the name calling frenzy LOL...),Wells has always been a good pitcher, even last yr + he was well rested ...

johnny boy--some words of wisdom: SHUT UP AND LET VARITEK DO WHAT HE'S DOING RIGHT NOW-that be good ;)

Yeah, worst pen era in the majors... GO TEKKKKKKKKKK!

How can Varitek be a bad game-caller if he is known to prepare excessively for everygmame he catches, and don't you read any of the scouting reports on him? They all say he's a magnificent game caller. ALso there's no comparison between Mirrabelli and Varitek, all Mirrabelli has to call is a knuckleball, and the occasional fastball/curveball. Also he's not fastball-happy, he has different out-pitches that he calls for every pitcher. Schilling- fastball or split, Wells- curveball, Arroyo- breaking ball. I quote from ESPN:

" Varitek is one of the most respected signal callers in the majors. He also has a strong arm and throws well to second base. While opposing baserunners stole at a 79.4-percent clip against him in 2004, pitchers on the mound had more to do with that than Varitek's throwing ability. He never has been fleet of foot, but Varitek was in great shape last year, picking his spots to the tune of 10 stolen bases, most among American League catchers."

'Belli looks better because Wakefield throws one pitch all the time. I could make 'Belli look bad as well. "Look, here comes the first pitch knuckleball! TOLD YA!!!" ...

Also, 0-2 high fastballs are common throughout the MLB. It's called high-heat. Also known as trying to get the batter to chase a ball up and out of the zone. So...the best offense in the league, yes, you win behind them, but Wells throwing a complete game against the Orioles last night, while holding them TO 1 RUN is s***** pitch-calling? Explain.

that is not tek's fault, remember mirabelli has caught relievers who had done bad. so embree, foulke, mantei, blaine neal, halamma and remlinger doing suck ass jobs is because of varitek. you got some screws loose up there. are you even a sox fan, with ur name being two of red sox's top prospects and all. god dude get a life and find someone actually worthy to bash on

I know Belli only catches Wake but I was reffering to the times he caught Bronson,Lowe,Pedro, they all went dep into the game because of his knack for calling the right pitch... Oh & btw, belli has a better arm then tek, we all know it.
Posted
Also, how can you say Pedro was sucking when Tek caught him? He only went deeper into games because MIRABELLI WAS CATCHING HIM??!?!? ********. For the past near-decade, Tek has been the catcher that Pedro/Lowe knew. Tek's success made them good pitchers, along with their God-given talent.

**Looks like TEK ranks 11th in ERA for catchers since 1992, not to shaby seeing that pitching hasn't always been the Red Sox most important feature.
