Its seems to me that Manny is not comfortable at the plate. He has no Homers in his last 19 games, and only 7 Rbis since August 15th. He is striking out a lot and not hitting with runners in scoring postion. We need Manny "to be Manny" if this team has a shot at another World Series. What do you guys think about Manny's recent Struggles.

He's still on pace to hit 7 more HRs than last year, have 23 more RBI, right on pace of last year with SLG, and his BA is exactly where is was last year. I don't really see a slump of any kind. Everyone was having this conversation at the begining of the year and he turned it on. He's not Kevin Millar ... he'll be just fine. Leave him alone.

I argee he is having a great season, he just dosnt look as confident at the plate right now, say as he was a month ago. I am the bigest Manny support out there im not trying to pick on him, i just wanted to see what everyone eles thought.

His defense has really picked up as well huh. I sincerely hope they get rid of his lazy ass this off season and are able to attain something decent in return.

Yeah get that lazy 40/140 and a hit in every post season game last year off this team please.

What a complete jackass.

you do know that one home run every 19 games isnt a ratio that really should be labelled slump. I think, career, manny hits one homerun every 15 games. If anyone has the bill james handbook they can check me on that, im to lazy to go check, but i think thats right. One in 19 games really isnt very bad at all. No big deal.

P.S. I actually wouldnt mind them trading manny in the offseason if A. They keep all their prospects, because we should not have to give up top tier farmhands so we can dump a guy who is a perennial .300 30+ 100+ guy, no way. B. We get the money to sign A.J. Burnett and do it promptly, and C. Get a couple guys to push the farm system over the top like lastings milledge or somebody to go along with a solid everyday guy.

Namecalling huh Hammer, you're real mature I see. Isn't it past your bedtime now little boy?

As for Manny, I'm sick of his drama and am I not entitled to an opinion? He's a well below average fielder who with that alone has cost the Sox some games and will continue to do so especially in larger stadiums. He could barely hit a beachball for the last month and he's just not into it. Sure the Sox would miss his bat but that's why I say try to get someone somewhat comparable.

So keep up the name calling Hammer and you can continue to show this board exactly who you are. :harhar:

I'm no mathematician but isn't that only an average of a little above 8 homers a year if 1 every 19 games?

Manny last year had averaged at one time, homerun every 11 at bats

Little boy!? Big words from a 12 year old too scared to put his age in his profile. I'm 19 jerky ... and I never had a bed time.

Can you name 1 other player in the league that will play a better LF than Manny and put up his numbers at the plate every year, and be clutch, and protect Papi? Find me another future HOF LFer in the league that has produced as long as Manny has and I'll admit I'm wrong.

And don't use BB for that ... cause steroids ... and Sid Bream(but thats probably before your time youngin)

BTW I'm not big on name calling but if you're gonna to make a jack ass statement I'm gonna call you out on it.

Ooohh..you are a big boy at 19 years old...Wow, you're just a fountain of life experience aren't you. Let's just say I'm in my 30's Hammer so I have no reason to hide anything from my profile. Lol.

Let me see...One other player that if he could remain healthy could be a much better defensive fielder and still a huge threat at the plate would be Magglio Ordonez.

BTW, it may be a jack ass statement to someone as narrow-minded as yourself but it's still someone's legit opinion. Just because Manny's got one of the greatest bats of all time doesn't make him indispensable, remember a couple pitchers named Clemens or Martinez?

Wow, you name a guy who was hurt last year, and this year. Let's see who made more erros. Mags had 30 Errors in his 6 full seasons in the bigs. In Manny's last 6 seasons he's made 24. Oh look at that ... interesting stat isn't it? OK, maybe you got me at the plate. Lets see in the last 6 seasons Manny has averaged 37.5 HRs and 117 RBIs, while Mags has averaged 29 HRs 109 RBIs. Nope don't got me there either. Mags is only 2 years younger, and if I'm not mistaken he's got a pretty big contract as well, so I don't really see that being much of an upgrade. Maybe you should try again, and this time maybe don't suggest that we get someone who has been hurt for an entire season.

BTW if you're 30 then I'm Manny Ramirez.

Manny's only made 24 errors because they don't count very catchable balls that Manny never attempts to get to as errors!

BTW which part of "If he could remain healthy" didn't you understand?

Another player that would be an alternative Griffey Jr.

I'm finished dealing with children on this board!

See ya Manny!

God I hope they trade Manny.

That's the only arguement I need, trading Manny would be a huge mistake.

Red Sox fans have been unbelieveably spoiled watching Manny Ramirez hit the baseball. We are watching the greatest right handed hitter of our generation. The things he does for the line up, are just amazing.

Trading Manny would be stupid.

That's why they would need to get another big bat in his place.
You say that like it's so easy.

Trading Manny would be a huge mistake. HUGE. Konerko might have nice stats, but most of his home runs are solo and he doesn't hit in the clutch. Griffey would be useless. A left handed hitter in his mid 30's with declining power and injury prone in the outfield? No. He wouldn't hit as many home runs playing at fenway with that uppercut flyball swing he has now. He'd become another Trot Nixon for us, which is good, but not good enough to hit behind Ortiz. There's no other good possibilities. Losing Manny would make us like a 90-72 team.

I don't wanna hear that BS about Manny not being able to get to catchable balls, because you have no evidence. The only evidence is the numbers, and they support my argument.

Now you wanna replace him with someone older and injury prone. If you were a GM you'd have the job for about 15 minutes.

Exactly, that's what people around here don't get. It's not exactly easy to get a player like Manny from another team. Most teams that would be willing to trade for Manny are not going to trade us a power hitting LF ... because that makes no sense for them. No team wants to trade their best power hitter, so if we do chose to trade Manny it's going to be almost impossible to replace his production.

I still haven't heard a logical reason to trade Manny. He's lazy just doesn't cut it for me.
