Mariners Turn to rookie Harris to Knot in Game 2

New York (74-56) at Seattle (55-75), 7:05 p.m. PT

The Mariners will be looking to even up their series with the American League Wild Card-leading Yankees after relinquishing an early four-run lead and eventually losing, 7-4, in the opening game of a four-game stint. The Mariners will send rookie right-hander Jeff Harris, seeking his second consecutive win, to the mound. Harris picked up his first win in his last start against the Rangers in an 8-2 ballgame in Arlington.

He gave up one unearned run on four hits over seven innings in that game, and he has allowed only one earned run in his past 11 2/3 innings. Starting for the Yankees will be Shawn Chacon, who is making his seventh start since coming from the Rockies. Chacon has pitched lights-out since early July and has not allowed more than three runs in each of his past eight starts. In his most recent start, Chacon allowed two runs on six hits over seven innings of work while striking out six against the Blue Jays in the Bronx.

oooo yankees are playing a rookie pitcher, they don't do well against them just like us.

I know...I always get worried when we face no-namers.

Chacon's breaking balls aren't breaking tonight...but Posada keeps calling them.

He needs to if they are going to try and keep hitters off balance. Chacon's 92 FB isn't enough by itself.

Harris walks the first two, but then K's Bernie. No-Chin singles Arod in. What's with Harris nibbling with a 5-run lead?

Yanks misplay a relay throw...allows another run to score.

Yeah, this team definitely is playing like it's the second day of a west coast trip.

You got your name wrong, it's not optimist, it's apologist.
