I'm not going to even mention last night's game,because I am no mood to start the "you're so negative" , you're not a fan if you arent blind and loyal debate. so I'll focus my wrath not so much on last night but on two clods that I find to be useless.

 

The simple fact is that kevin millar is a big fat no good stiff, and while that is beyond reproach --the bigger stiff is the person in charge of playing someone that bad. There comes a time when there has to be accountabilitiy. Why would this guy be allowed on the field when he does absolutely nothing. I like francona but every time he puts millar on the field that is grounds for dismissial.

Because his manager does not know how to interpret the scouting report.

According to the report Millar was 4 for 6 against that pitcher, so he sent him to bat thinking that there would be a %66.67 chance of getting a hit.

4 for 6 are statistically meaningless. Possible interpretation could be that Millar was “hot” one day, which is something very rare to see, and then he was 3 for 4, then on another day he was 1 for 2 with a walk.

Another interpretation is that the pitcher himself was in a slump that day.

So, 4 for 6 do not mean that he will have a %66.67 chance of getting a hit!

A smart manager would have ignored this meaningless stat, and made the decision based on “who is hot now!” and since Millar is in a slump these days, a smart manager would not have sent him to bat. That ground ball killed the last momentum the Sox had.

 

As for Remlinger, he is just another John Halama with a different name.

Theo was going to do something about Sox’s pitching problems, but he was distracted by another episode of “Manny being Manny”. (Thank's Manny)

Right now any team could beat the Sox (remember KC?), and this is scary because getting a wild card spot this year will be very difficult!

I read in a post over at SoSH that it will be announced that Remlinger has been DFA'd and Alvarez will be called up to join the team for today's game. I can't find it in any online news source, but I hope it is true.

Seriously, play Petagine/Olerud at 1st instead. Even though they're lefties, they're still better than anthing Millar can do.

BTW I never said someone wasn't a fan for not having blind faith. If you jump on a player after 1 bad game/start(schilling) or a slow start to a season(renteria) only to jump back on their bandwagon later you're not a fan.

He knows that. He is saying that Hansen will somehow take Mantei's spot for being on the team before 9/1 making him eligible for the post season.

Hansen is coming exactly on Sept 1, not before, that has been confirmed. Matt Mantei will not be considered in any roster changes considering hes out for the entire season. Hansen doesnt have to take Mantei's spot anyway, because Matt is not on the 25 man roster for the Red Sox

I know Mantei is not on the active roster and that Hansen will be up Sept. 1. I was making referrence to the fact that playoff eligibility is determined by your active roster on Aug. 31 and all players on the DL. Therefore, if Hansen does well after his call up, then they can put him on the playoff roster as a substitute for Mantei. And, yes, I know that means someone would have to be taken off the active roster for that to happen.

In the entire month of August KFK has had 4 RBI .... 4!!!! In 79 AB he's only been able to drive home 4 god damn runs. .299/.316/.241 For August ... I don't even think he would be starting at AA at this point. It's not like this team is in need of offense, but could you imagine if Tito would start a 1B that atleast has a chance of getting a hit when he comes to the plate?
