Who gets It, Guardians are hot right now and the A's are coolinig off. The Guardians are the most dangerous team IMO right now, and they could make a serious run at the WC. If Parralta, Martinez, Hafner, Sizemore continue hitting and if Cliff Lee, Sabathia, and Millwood continue to pitch well I think they will win it.

Oakland has the pitching obviously but I'm not sold on their offense just yet.

I'm going with Cleveland as well, but that's just because of each team's play right now. The Yankees are safe with their lineup, but if their starters get tagged early against post-season teams, and their bullpen has to pitch the games, they're screwed. The Guardians are all around well-shaped, and have a helluva future with that young roster. Bob Wickman has turned into a pretty solid closer, and that lineup can hit. Oakland, well, what YS013 said.

Boston :harhar:

Out of the teams listed, I think the Yankees have everything they'll need to make the playoffs. If Randy Johnson ever steps up, the Yankees will probably take the East.

haha, you spankee fans are so funny, you win 1 game and get all psyched. Our hitting is superior to yours and We have an easy schedule and we have our longest home stand of the season starting after our series at KC! Good luck with the 'Big Bust" and his 4.646346394 ERA.

I'll give wright 2 more weeks before he gets injured again. leiter is going for you today....automatic loss.

and if I recall you have another series vs KC (0-3) and TAMPA BAY like 7 more times!!!!!!! LOL

Well, since this for the wildcard, Got to be Cleveland because of weak schedule and talent. The Yanks have NO chance at winning the division, besides this isn't the thread topic. The Yanks if healthy, would be scary if healthy, but that's the problem. They seem to have that injury bug/flu/curse, whatever you want to call it. But it seems just when they have some players coming back someone gets hurt. I mean the usual sore arms, backs, etc. but urinary track infections ? How do you spell relief ?

Well Gordon and Rivera have gotten a much needed rest the last few days, so I don't expect them to be troublesome for a while. Chacon, Wright and Mussina have put up solid starts, Leiter has been hit or miss and Johnson has been nonexsistent. If Johnson can ever step up, we look pretty damn good pitching wise. Oh, and Wang is supposedly around the corner from returning.

I don't care if Wang and Chacon aren't big names, they have saved this season to this point.

Sox's schedule is in their favor, this series against the Royals has Wells, Clement and Schilling and then they return to Fenway to play 24 out of the last 36 games there--best home record in all the majors. Pitching is getting better--Clement and Bronson each gaving back to back quality starts, Papelbon as a starter or reliever is pretty much lights out--Gonzalez has good stuff as the long reliever, not allowing a run in his past 8 innings of relief--Timlin as setup or closer, im very much comfortable with--and Bradford and Myers are a great combo of sub marine pitchers to get out lefties and righties--As for the offense, best f***ing offense 3rd season in a row says it all!!!!

Do you honestly believe RJ has any chance of "stepping it up"? The guy hasn't done anyting worht noting all season, hell he's given up the most HR's in the AL.

If he wasn't Randy f***in' Johnson, then no I wouldn't think so. However, he's done it before and he has the ability to do it again.

He hasn't struggled as poorly as he has right now, at least not since his early years. Which is why the consensus around baseball is that he's close to the end.

Hopefully Oakland or Cleveland wins it so the damn Wankees don't make the playoffs. I'd love to see George's face if they don't make it.

It doesn't matter what you're name is if your 41 years old and have been sucking all season you're probably not going to get better as the season goes along. He's done, the dominant days of his career are over and he's not getting any better anytime soon. Have fun paying another over the hill pitcher 16 million dollars for another two years. Randy Johnson is Kevin Brown II.

I'm not going to hold my breath on RJ. Whatever happens with him, happens. I have been really impressed with the rest of the rotation lately, and they couldn't have picked a better time to click. If any of those teams wins the Wild Card (you missed putting a certain team on that list) it is most likely going to be the Yankees. Wickman is great and is one of the biggest reasons Cleveland has a fighting chance, but I'm not sure they will do very much. The A's will be pesky but since the Yanks I believe have won most of the games against them this year I am hoping the Yanks will be able to gain ground in their next series together.

Believe me, I've been saying the same thing at another forum. I don't like what Johnson has done at all, but there is still that shred of hope that he can fix it. He's been too good over his career to just fall apart now.

I do think that he's not getting on top of his pitches enough, causing the loss in velocity, bad location and no bite on his slider. Needs to get the arm angle up a bit so he can be throwing 'downhill' a little more. That will get his slider breaking a little more down and in.

Oakland, I don't think the Yankees or Cleveland has the pitching.

Oakland doesnt have the offense, Eric Chavez cant carry the whole team.

He's a the age where careers usually do fall apart (outside of Clemens who is a freak of nature, or juiced). I think George jsut hears a big nae and says "I want him" Not thinking about age and other intangibles that fall into baseball, it's the same tihng with Kevin Brown.

Bernie Williams, Tino Martinez, Kevin Brown, Randy Johnson, Al Lieter? Yeah that's worth 200 million in 1995.
