Arroyo set to tackle Angels

Red Sox (70-50) at Angels (70-52), 4:05 p.m. ET

The Red Sox don't have much time to savor one of their grittiest wins of the season. Following a 4-3, 10-inning victory over the Angels on Friday night, the Red Sox knew they would be right back at it on Saturday afternoon.

Bronson Arroyo will take the ball for the Sox, seeking his 11th win of the season. The Angels counter with rookie Ervin Santana, who has never faced the Red Sox.

The teams have split the first two games of this four-game series. The Red Sox stranded 16 runners on Friday night and blew a 3-0 lead, but still found a way to win.

Pitching matchup

BOS: RHP Bronson Arroyo

• 10-7, 4.28 ERA in 2005

• 0-0, 3.00 ERA vs. LAA in 2005

LAA: RHP Ervin Santana

• 6-5, 4.62 ERA in 2005

• Has never faced BOS

Player to watch

Center fielder Johnny Damon went 4-for-6 on Friday, showing signs that he's back on track.

Quotable

"It looked like he had a little more hop in his step today. He can smell the fact that he's going to be starting for us soon." -- Damon on Curt Schilling, who got the win in relief on Friday

Quick hits

The Red Sox have won 20 of their last 28 games. ... Damon has produced at least a hit or a run in his last 57 games. ... Schilling has 10 saves since becoming the closer. ... John Olerud is 5-for-9 since coming off the DL

Their rotation will be pretty good for the postseason. Colon, Washburn, Lackey, Santana, and Kelvim Escobar is about to start a rehab stint. I hope either we/they overtake the ChiSox for home field, because I don't want the Angels in the opening round.
