Got my issue of "Sporting News" today, the one with LT on the cover, and there's a feature on best sports cities in the nation (ranked from 1-388), and Boston comes in at number one.

It's going to take me a couple of days to stomach this article, for obvious reasons, but it's a cool thing if you're a Red Sox fan, a New England sports fan for that matter (I think there are lots here?). ;)

Actually, St. Louis is ranked as the best MLB town, and Green Bay's the best in NFL, but in the overall standings, Boston's #1.

I saw some test conducted on CNN I believe to find the "coolest" towns in the nation, a similar type of thing I guess. I'm not exactly sure of the specifications for the rankings but they took into consideration things like night life, popularity, and "coolness". yeah, coolness. lol anyway, Boston came in as #2 only beat by Denver..a little surprising.. Anyhow NY was #9!! haha

Meh, me no scanner, otherwise I like you guys so much I'd prolly post the entire article. I'll see if I can find some transcript though. ;)

The feature covers the quirks about Boston, stuff they dug up on the locals, so if a visitor goes there they know the lingo and the bars to hit, etc.

Yeah, I glossed over the criteria, but the cities with pro-sports franchises obviously got the nod over the small little towns with maybe a collegiate team. Which is understandable looking at the whole of things, but I can tell you that college football towns - there's no way to describe how crazy it gets! :D

JohnnyDug: I see that you live in the state of FL - didn't some politician call the Marlins "terrorists" for wanting a new stadium? I don't mean to imply that Floridians (?) don't like their sports or anything, but I thought that was a weird thing to say, to say the least.

Glad to see someone else thinks Florida sucks. I haven't even been there and i think it sucks. Everyone is always like "omg florida is so nice how could you not like it"?

If i want to go somewhere nice i'll go somewhere without old people and 100 humidity.

hahaha exactly! FL is hardly paradise. The temp today was upper 90's, extreme humidity, and a 100% chance that their baseball teams suck ass.

living in Montreal, I honestly cannot wait to visit your fantastic city and watch the Sox pound the Orioles in September

Not to mention we have THE dumbest state in the nation. Yeah, I know California voted for the Termitator, but at least they know how to vote.

As for the baseball stadiums, at least it's not hard to get a ticket when the Sox are in town.

Yep, we went this past Wednesday. It was great, the tickets were only ten dollars (I wonder what kind of sick s*** you'd have to do to get ten dollar tickets at the Fens?) and we just moved up to the first row in the outfield.

Like, oh my god lol SI said were #1 so it mst be tru haha

Wow, thanks for demonstrating you can spell. I had my doubts there, Crespo. ;) The first part at least.

Unfortuantely, if you couldn't read, it was "SN". Before you go patrolling other people's topics, why don't you make sure yours is correct first. <_>

*sighs* Don't care is don't care, I guess. :dunno:

SN, SI, their basically the same right? This was probably ranked by a dumbass (kind of ironic for me to call someone a dumbass when I can't read or write) who has never probably ever been to Sarasota, FL or Azle, TX.

Basically, that's why I don't care about some "expert" ranking these cities.

Azle, Texas. I had to look up where that is, and I know my Texas cities pretty well. Expert my ass, Azle is nothing more than a small crappy city north of the fort dallass/fort worthless metrosexualplex.

Yes, you can't, because someone obviously needs to teach you the difference between "we're" and "were", "their" and "they're".

Actually, ha, you'd be mistaken in that assumption because Sarasota comes in at number 277. Haven't scanned and found Azle, but there are a bunch of small towns, just so you know.

Oh well, I'm a top-ten-listy-type-of-person. Even if I happen to disagree, rankings intrigue me for whatever reason. :D

It's all Arte Moreno's fault. What a f***ing douchebag. The "The Angels Angels of Anaheim of Orange County, which is a different county from the L.A. County...which happens to be 2 hours away from each other, depending on the traffic on Interstate 5 freeway" are not part of LOS ANGELES. Oh s***, Anaheim doesn't have their own market. Never mind. But hey, it's really bad when your team is owned by a Mexican pendejo who happens to barely speak Spanish.

"The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim"

"The The Angels Angels of Anaheim"

Hey Arte MorOno, how do you say "f*** you" in Spanish? And stop putting Angel billboards all over L.A..

Haha, I once read or saw an article on Vlad, and they were asking him what's the name of the team or something, and he just said, through his translator, "I just play for Anaheim." Feeling's mutual, I guess.

If it's ok with you Crespo, I'd like to post a New York Times article. I hear it's a pretty prestigious newspaper. On the Red Sox taking away Yankees attendance number crown.

Yankees Are No Longer Best Show on the Road

And if it's not, oh well, boo-hoo. :D

I'm perfectly fine with Boston being #1, but the Packers #1 for NFL ... that's a joke. There are Steeler fans all over the country just like Red Sox fans. Plus there are thousands of fans that travel with the team everywhere they go. Not to mentin 61,000 fans showed up to training camp 2 days ago. Pittsburgh may suck as a sports town as far as baseball goes(can you really blame us?), but we are the best football town. Green Bay can kiss my ass.

BTW I love Favre and Green Bay ... but they can still kiss my ass.

That article ranking Denver ahead of Boston was ranking cities in terms of goodness of fit for young, single professionals.
