I'm assuming that's a good thing? Ramirez still drove home the runs.

Don't think Burnett's coming; yeah I've heard the friends thing, but for what, to come here, buddy up and use the phones to gripe about which other team they could've gone too? Not to mention Burnett's has been disappointing in underachieving expectations; it's just about a sure thing that players are going to underachieve in NY.

Anyways, next year is next year, Yankees motto is still to win now. Except that the FO is determined to keep its core prospects together, but 2005 payroll was built to bring back that elusive number 27 this year.

The Red Sox probably won't sign a starter next year, the Yankees will have a pretty good chance to land Burnett. Burnett misses bats, which helps, Pavano was a bust ready to happen.

Pavano isn't Manny, that's a very bad comparsion.

This is true; nobody can be compared to Manny. He is the most unique man to ever play baseball. I was in the Dominican Republic last year. They talked about Pedro like he was a God but when I asked about Manny they just said “he’s crazy”.

not the first this season ;) Tim Redding, Darrell May, Sean Henn, Al Leiter, and Melky Cabrera

What about Womack, Quantrill, Groom, Stanton, the list just grows longer

Schilling, Wells, Wakefield and Clement are already going to be #1-4 starters. I see Sox not renewing Wade's contract, making Bronson the new long reliever of the bullpen, with Papelbon being the #5 starter

Any starter we sign will only get a year, Sanchez and Lester are close too.

Nono, I'll add to that that at least when Steinbrenner signs his du jours, they've had spectacular season(s) BEFORE arrival - Burnett's been ok recently since FLA decided not to trade him, but in his career, he hasn't been what he "should be". Has there ever been a player that sucked before arrival, and suddenly flourished upon? In recent years? Err...no. Nope. Can't think of one. Well first of all Steinbrenner wouldn't sign a dud in hopes that it blooms into a flower...

The reverse however, might be true. Just check out all those ppl who have left the Yankees, either as FAs or got swapped in some deal for ol' players. Willy Mo Pena sounds good to me right now.

No. No. No. Don't want Burnett. You can have him, but you don't want him, but gah, I don't want the offseason to be a bidding war between the Sox. Or the Mets. Or whatever. The FO is confusing enough internally, why worry about other things you can't control?

because tito stated they are going to have papelbon become a starter for the team most likely next season, besides wade signed just a one season contract--hey calm down alright, i like the guy its just that is the way its looking like so far for 06

i hear lester is a stud, but I dont know much about him..

we have a lot of farm hands for the future and a first place team.

they have nomo in the minors-getting rocked.

they also have A-f***, sheff, and randy johnson-who's the biggest *******?? ,

I'd say it must suck to be yankee fan these days!!

manny also didnt just start preforming after he said he wanted out...

um, I believe he was leading the AL in home runs and had 90+ rbi's at that time.

very lame comparison, you'll have to come up with something better than that.

My point was not to compare Pavano and Manny but to point out the hypocrisy of a Sox fan saying you should want someone off the team because the said they don’t want to be there. Furthermore this is coming from a blurb in the Daily news from an unnamed source. This isn’t a quote directly from the player.

i doubt it but there's are always unforeseen things that come up.

having six beats the s*** out of having a two man rotation like some other team we know.

I think half of them hate us for getting rid of them. Bitter, much, Wedsell "Buddy" Groom? *flicks the wrist* YOU'RE FIRED, IF YOU HAVE A 54.00 ERA, Mr. Redding. Quantrill, at least we amputated you from the cancer that is Kevin Brown.

Wow, if only we'd known about Cano, IF ONLY... Womack he seems pretty resigned to his role as bench warmer. Because his stats just about indicate him as the worst player in the league.

Naturally, he would be on the Tankees? <_>

Sox have had their bad follys of 05 as well. Schilling on DL after 3 starts but will be starting very soon, Embree, Mantei who did bad then went on DL, ditto for Foulke who is expected this month, ditto again for Bellhorn whos on DL Rehab in Triple A 0 for 8 with 4 strikeouts, John Halamma, Ramon Vazquez, Cla Meredith

Hey, is it too late to go get Johnny Rocker? He'd fit right into your clubhouse

The Yankees can still utilize Tony Womack, as a Dave Roberts kind of guy, but he should never get another AB.

I forgive Embree, according to the yesnetwork fans, he's a double agent. He's still rooting for the Sox

Embree vs. Ortiz. Ouch. Just go ahead and throw him to the wolves, Cashman, you do that. :o

As for Rocker in da clubhouse, maybe he can give A-Rod some tips? Should be ever be in another altercation with another player on another team...? Sheff supposedly has his back, but how many "pristine" Yankees does it take to rough 'em up? ;)

The trail of blood continues...

cool ys013.

I love how the Yankee schedule shapes up after next weekend. Serious hay can be made there, especially if we get back Randy and Wang going into that stretch.

It'll be a sprint to the finish.

Me too. It's make or break time. I wouldn't be surprised either way, but I really hope they can gain some serious ground and get within -3.0 games before they play the Sox.

Aug 13 The Hartford Courant reports New York Yankees SP Chien-Ming Wang (shoulder), out since the All-Star break with a shoulder injury, threw 26 fastball pitches off the mound in Tampa, Fla., on Aug. 12. The Yankees are holding out hope Wang can pitch in September.
