Here are the remaining schedules. I've bolded games left against contending teams. I probably shouldn't have included the Orioles, but they are always a thornin our side

Btw, to those who say we have "tons" of games left against New York- how does six games constitute "tons"???

I think the advantage in scheduling is with the Red Sox; don't you guys also have the most home games in the second-half of all the teams in MLB?

I'm going to call a sweep of KC and TB (for the Yankees), but at times that has been questionable.

95 wins...c'mon, fairly reasonable?

I wouldn't be so quick to predict wins over the Royals if I'm a Yankee fan. Hopefully you were joking with your 95 wins comment. You have 58 games left to win 39. I strongly doubt you're going 39-19 with no pitching. So hopefully that was a joke.

why would the yankees all of sudden be able to sweep tampa, they have been able to beat them at all this season.

mussina, johnson, pray for rain isnt my idea of confidence.

I think it's more like mussina, pray for rain and Wang to come back.

Perhaps you missed the SECOND part of my statement:

but at times that has been questionable.

I'm aware to for reasons unknown, that the D-Rays have been extremely pesky for the Yankees. And that the Royals swept the Yanks earlier in the season, first time in more than a decade. So yes, it's not a sure thing. There might've been a time when a $200 million payroll was a sure thing to get a team into the postseason, but as it is, no. No it is not.

Toronto, I think NY should send you a fruit basket!

in all seriousness, al lieter has turned out as predicted to be a bust. How come he did well against us?

He is awful again like in florida...

Oil can is available I hear.

Posted

Because he wasn't familiar with the AL East, once pitchers and batters have seen each other a couple times, allowing adjustments to be made, so otherwise I'd say it was beginner's luck or "lightening in a bottle" or whatever.

Please Al, I don't want Yankee fans to make another "Price is Right" call.

If he can throw a strike, when Pavano comes back he might be able to move to the BP. CUT DOWN ON THOSE WALKS!

Posted
I wouldn't want Pavano on my staff if he didn't want to be with the team. I can't imagine Joe wanting him back in the rotation after he says he regrets signing there. I guess you gotta do what you gotta do though.

well if anything yankees will be very much active for starting pitchers next season. Sox will be pretty much set with Schilling, Wells, Clement, Wakefield, with the 5th starter going Papelbon, Bronson and Wade who both contracts are up this season, bronson having the 06 club option

What, didn't we sign him for four years, forty mil? And so far year one has been a bust. Why is he complaining while he's rocking his arse on the DL about his current situation? You're still getting paid. Now stop yapping with your buddies in Detroit and focus on what you're going to contribute once you get back, note to Pavlov. Grass is not greener in Comerica.

Just can't win here...some guys want to get out, some guys we can't get out.

Well technically the staff should be in tact next season: RJ, Moose, Pavano, Wright, Wang. Injuries and pitching coach, no guarantees there.

Posted
That will be the pitching staff until Wright goes back down, and the Yankees realize they made a big mistake with RJ. I think Pavano, Wright, and RJ were all busts, and now you're stuck with all of their big contracts. I'm not so sure Randy is even going to pitch next year. He took a huge step back, and thats even with changing leagues, which should have helped a lot. I think you're going to be 2 pitchers short again next year, and in the same position.

RJ just looks old, and hitters are catching up to him, as well.

He is still good, very good, but he has given up an extraordinary amount of home runs..

the devil rays clobbered him, too...that isnt the RJ they signed, and that is only going to happen more often.

I cant say I am unhappy about it... and certainly am not initimated at all that we'll be facing the big ugly unit in september.

In the words of dumbya our prez--bring 'em on.

The Yankees are out of Brown's big contract at the end of the season, so expect big bucks being waved at AJ Burnett, who is reportedly good friends with Pavano.

This is just hearsay about Pavano but if it’s true maybe he’ll come back and perform like Manny doe’s when he says he doesn’t want to be in Boston.

Pavano isn't Manny, that's a very bad comparsion.

manny also didnt just start preforming after he said he wanted out...

um, I believe he was leading the AL in home runs and had 90+ rbi's at that time.

very lame comparison, you'll have to come up with something better than that.
