I remember last year when Duke played at Charlotte in the first-round, and it definitely not a home-court advantage! I can't even remember who they played, but they were booed by the Carolina crowd...everyone was rooting for the other team, because they were "underdogs".

 

Anyways, that's besides the point, but there'll be plenty of smack flying around come college b-ball time.

Well looks like we'll be having fun this BBall season. Everyone knows Duke is better than UNC. This year will just be further proof. We lost Daniel Ewing which will be the biggest hit, but we already have Nelson ready to take his place and we got McRoberts, the National HS Athlete of the Year, coming in. With JJ and the Landlord ... oh man ... I'll predict a championship right now.

I guess Paulus probably would be running the point, because it would make more sense for Nelson to play 3 guard so he can grab his usual insane number of boards. I kind of forgot about Dockery too. Wow I love this team more and more every time I think about them. I don't buy all the hype for UCONN this year. I'll stand by my prediction.

That was the problem in the past, that as good and as much heart as Duhon and Ewing had, they didn't have the natural instincts at PG, which Paulus as an All-American should have no problems with. I liked what I saw out of Nelson, once he gets the fouls down, which really hurt the group as whole last year.

 

It's funny to see what Shav is doing with his "NBA career", after throwing a hissy fit about not seeing enough time next year. And who drafts Charlie Villaneuva that high, anyways? Both teams are better without their prima-donnas. :thumbdown

 

Oh look at this; it's turning into a Duke-UNC basketball thread, and for all we know therealsoxGM might be a Wake fan! He's too busy GM-ing in the Rumors section? :dunno:

Ugh, Maryland. :thumbdown I recognize that screencap - that was the one year when we didn't OWN the ACC tourney. Pssh, this year, the strategy of mobbing Redick and letting everyone else beat is not going to work.

I'm not in love with Carolina, I just dislike Duke. As far as the Carolina roster goes, they are a very young team. They only have three starting seniors in their lineup and one junior. That leaves four freshman and one sophomore. That's clearly a young team. Obviously, Duke will be tough to once again be beaten this year, but it can be done ESPECIALLY when the Dukies come to Chapel Hill.

It would be foolish to dismiss Carolina as anything but a formidable opponent, any year, seeing as powerhouses don't rebuild but reload, so it should be a "fun" time.

 

Last time Duke came to Chapel Hill, a Tar Heel had the ball with about 20 secs left, and stepped out of bounds to end the game...

Anyway, the loss there was a painful one but no loss pissed me off more than the last loss to UNC this past year. So many BS calls in a span of 30 seconds to hand the tar heels the game. I remember breaking my remote control seconds after that game ended. Has to manually change the channels for 3 days while I waited for a new one ... boy that sucked. f*** UNC.

 

YankeeDoodle you are the 2nd Yankee fan I've come across who is also a Duke fan. It's kind of going to be scary when we're actually agreeing on things, and cheering for the same team.

Nope, a Fightin' Texas Aggie. I've grown up hating the longhorns all my life -- actually went to the Texas A&M v. texas game in Austin last year, and despite the 26-13 loss it wasn't ass bad compared to the prior two games that I had gone to in Austin (1996: 54-14, texas. 2002: 50-20, texas). I really think that the longhorns have some of the most classless fans.

 

I've been taunted, spit on, yelled at.... it's just a tough rivalry to lose five years in a row. And it stops this year when texas comes to College Station.

Surprising, Hammer? I do enjoy a good underdog story, but I just can't help it. There's just something about being the team where ALL the animousity is directed toward you... :dunno:

 

Hmm, I don't mind the other Texas schools as I do THE Texas University. Mainly it's a baseball thing though. However, I will root for them whenever they play Oklahoma - this is the year...EVERY year is the year when they're supposed to beat Oklahoma...and they DON'T!

 

Yeah, college football games are crazy. I've heard Husker fans were treated terribly by the Sooners down in Norman - they got pelted by ORANGES or something (look how that turned out) and who carries BB guns into a stadium, anyways? Pssh, this is year to take it to them!
