OK I'm going to say this ONE MORE TIME! Stop saying it's just a hot streak unless you can back that up with the evidence I asked for. I've yet to be able to find a player that hit 5 HRs in the first 3 months then all the sudden exploded for 14 and raises his SLG .543 points. This doesn't happen. Bellhorn may have hit 3 HRs in 3 games, but did he sudden triple his HR total in one month? Did his SLG suddenly rise .543 points from one month to another? No? Then it's not a valid arugment.

First, stop defending a player that doesn't deserve to be defended. Second, stop just saying "well it's just a hot streak" because if so this is the greatest hot streak in the history of baseball. I can't believe that this many people are going to come here and give their half assed defense of Jason Giambi.

the only reason its half-assed to you is because its simple....HE'S NOT USING..period!

and no, the tumor and parasite werent coverups, he really did have a tumor and parasite last year which is why he missed most of the year.

No use arguing anymore, he has his opinion, let him have it.

Papi compiled 26 Hrs in 3 months. So he hit 12 more HRs in 3 months than Giambi did in 1. That's your arguement? Good try. Not to mention that Papi just started coming into his own in 2003. Also he didn't suddenly get bigger.

Look Giambi isn't the only hitter thats patient at the plate. Every good hitter in the league waits for a pitch they can crush, and if they dont get it they take their walk. He's hasn't fixed holes in his swing ... he's improved his bat speed. The problem with the first 3 months for Giambi is that he was behind everything. His swing looked so ugly because he was trying to catch up to the pitches. How does your bat speed increase this much in a few days? There's only one logical answer.

maybe the coming into his own was due to steroids...he was a little smaller in Minnessota. And BTW

And the reason that i always argue "if he were a red sox...." is because its true, there is no way you would be on him so much if he were a Red Sock. His brother Jeremy, who is a former Red Sox player, has been juicing since the minors, just because he hasnt delivered results doesnt make him any less of a cheater, but i dont see anyone getting on him.

And steroids arent going to assist you in hitting home runs, that can be seen in the cases of Jeremy Giambi Alex Sanchez, and all the other guys who tested positive this year.

you're right. And Crespo, I have to tip my hat to you, it was noble to argue for Giambi considering the fact that you are a Sox fan.

Has he always had a 55 gallon drum for a head?

And no... it's not true. A cheater is a cheater, as I said before.

Wrong, there was no steriod policy in 2003.

How do we know? It's like Palmeiro...Who HONESTLY thought he was on roids before monday???

BUT...I would like to think that Giambi is a clean man and doing it by hard work, but now that hes got that cloud over his head you really can't blame Hammer for arguing it. Its not un-fair to question this, hes a known user, thats the consequence for doing them, everyone goings to be skeptical for the rest of his career.

He takes blood tests after the tumor and parasite scare last year. MLB has access to those tests. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they also detect human growth hormone.

The consequences are real. Sounding like a broken record, but I doubt, I HIGHLY doubt, that Giambi would jeopardize his life, AGAIN.

You are wrong. The blood tests for tumors and parasites do not detect HGH or steroids, unless the blood is speciifcally tested and screened for HGH and steroids.

Giambi's blood tests for his medical problems would not be screened in this manner by doctors who are treating him for the tumor and parasites.

They would only look for enzymes in the blood which would indicate the tumor or parasites had returned.

So the blood tests would be not prove anything. The blood was not tested for HGH or steroids.

Well, they could screen for it if they wanted to? Problem arises in if Giambi should be singled out for that?

No they can't. The MLBPA and MLB agreed to urine testing only, so the league cannot ask for additional screenings on his blood tests.

Jermey played a few games here are really wasn't a Red Sox. Plus he never helped us win an ALCS, or hit 14 HRs in a month for us. Completely different story. We wouldn't talk about Jeremy Giambi under any curcumstances. The guys not even in the league anymore.

If he was dumb enough to do it in the first place, in my eyes, he's dumb enough to do it again.

Exactly. Do alcoholics quit drinking after their first black out? Do crack heads stop smoking crack when they're caught, or get sick? Do any drug addicts stop what they're doing? No. Then why would Giambi.

Remember weither they tested for them or not steroids have been illegal in this country for a long time now. It's a drug just like crack, coke, heroine ... whatever.

Once a drug addict ... always a drug addict.

Bad comparision, that's not even close. Heroine, coke, pot, and alcohol, ARE ADDICTIVE. Steriods are not, maybe you should do some research.

Really you don't think its addicting? You don't think that needing something to perform your job is addicting? You don't think you become addicted to being better at your job? I didn't say it was physically addicting. I just said addicting. Drugs can be mentally addicting as well, like weed and alcohol.

No, I think Giambi is a smart enough guy, to realize his wife and children are more important then hitting HR's. He's locked into that 82 millions he's going to recieve, why on earth would he take the juice? To take steriods, and make more money? (For the slow, you can't renegotiate those albatrostic contracts)

Posted
He took juice once. Why wouldn't he do it again? What about that do you not understand? If he risked his life once why wouldn't he do it again? Gee the first time he did it he got himself what ... 100 mill + contract. Obvously he had no intelligence because he used them the first time, so why would you give him the benefit of the doubt the second time?

I thought I remember having read once before that Giambi has always had some sort of an inferiority complex. I can't find anything online to back that up, but I thought I had heard it, somewhere. If it's the true, then it's entirely possible that he's dumb enough to take them again. :dunno:

Giambi and intelligence do not go together. This guy is not smart and never has been. Not to mention I think he seriously struggles with the pressure that comes from NY so I would not be suprised if he was back on them.

BTW...steroids can be mentally addicting just as other drugs. Didn't you watch the South Park episode with Jimmy in the special olympics

Yeah, that was my point; they can't single out Giambi and leave out everyone else; there has to be a standard.

Correct my logic here too, but if he took powerful anabolic steroids, wouldn't that trigger something on his test results? And if the doctors didn't know it was steroids...there would be concern as to find the actual cause...and so they would conduct extra tests - and somewhere down the line they would find out the cause of his problems? :dunno:

HELLO? PEOPLE?! He was on the brink of death! Well, if they told you you had a tumor, wouldn't you be pretty freaked? Whether or not it was related to steroids, would anyone, anyone with common sense, we're not talking about Einstein IQ here, do anything that has been proven to be hazardous to your health? Isn't the simplest doctor's advice is if you're doing something that's hurting you, just stop doing it?

Plus I think Giambi has health consultants if he himself is not smart enough to string that together. <_>

You're a biased moron, you hate Giambi because you have some sort of vendetta against him. You know nothing about baseball econmics, or anything about Giambi. Quit responding, trying to save your already dead arguement.

You know this how? I think Giambi was smart to tell the truth unlike Palmerio. Yeah, Giambi has really struggled with pressure this year, hitting two game winning hits. He plays better in Yankee Stadium then away from it.

I was thinking of calling you a moron after reading your first part, but South Park?! That's as good of a source as Kim Jong II would be on human rights.

hGhiambi hit another home run today.

Haha, i still dunno what to think. Hard to think that it's roids bu it looks so tempting to think that.

He just hit another in the 9th to put the Yankees ahead. Two HR's. I am thinking he may set another record in August for HR's in a month. It really makes me sick that he might be on steroids or HGH again. The cirumstancial evidence is growing stronger. He is starting to hit like Barry Bonds two years ago, virtually cannot pitch to him. This is just so wrong, baseball is being ruined by this steroid mess.

I wish Selig would step up to the plate and demand that Giambi be given a blood screening for HGH and steroids. That is the only way this matter will be resolved. Or are we supposed to watch him hit 20 HR a month and just sit back and naively applaud?

Posted

Flaherty hit "another" HR today. Well, his first of the year. Don't think there's anything fishy going on there? ;)

Why wouldn't it be "tempting" to think that a guy works hard to get where he was in spite of adversity (granted a lot of it he brought upon himself). It takes a lot less than "shadow of a doubt" to get convicted in the court of public opinion?
