There is a very good example of trading your future for high priced veterans for all to see playing right now. Would anyone like to see the Sox go the same route?

i dont think they should...definantly not hanley...he is almost ready to come up to the majors...he juss need to mature a lil bit...so they shouldnt trade him especially cuz they will prolly release bellhorn and need a 2b...and hes pretty good at it...so idk...i doubt they will though

Dustin Pedoria is the 2B of the future, not your eye candy Hanley Ramriez.

My guess is that maybe they are show casing, Hanley at all postions to prove to other teams that he can play there.

Or they could be trying to move him, so he can play 3B next year, and Youk at 1st, or in CF next year and Youk at 3rd.

Have you seen him play? He just looks like a star when he moves, he's much faster then Johnny Damon, and has a ton of range. I think it would be better to slide Edgar to third and keep Hanley at SS.

That's great news! The Sox have been suffering in the all important "Hairstyle" statistical category. Do you think his 'do is ready to be called up now? Will his 'do get along well with Manny's dreads and Johnny's locks?

no.

The Red Sox should learn from the mistakes of the Yankees organization and NOT trade their top prospects for overpriced veterans. Contrary to popular belief, great teams are not built by piecing together free agents. The Boston Red Sox need to continue to strengthen the farm system by developing (and keeping) these good young players. I'm strongly against trading the following players: Hanley Ramirez, Dustin Pedroia, Anibal Sanchez, Jon Lester, Jon Papelbon. To a lesser extent: Brandon Moss, Manny Declarman.

Kelly Shoppach I could justify trading in the right deal considering he'll be damn near 30 before he gets a chance to be a big league player here in Boston.

I have said this about 1,000,000 times on this board: The most recent Yankee dynasty (96-2000) was built on a foundation of HOMEGROWN talent and roleplayers. The minute they started signing high priced superstar players like Mussina, Giambi, Sheffield, etc-- they stopped winning championships.

The Red Sox don't need to add superstars. Therefore, they don't need to give up their top prospects.

That's true, but there's a heck of alot more that never panned out.

This is very true....however I think the Sox have done a better job of scouting the past couple years. They just need to determine which players are in there true future. There is a good chance only one of the two (Hanley & Pedroia) could be a fit on this team. Not all of the pitchers will make it to the show for Boston. You have Papelbon, Lester, Sanchez, Delcarmen, and now Hansen.

You just gotta remember the Sox are always big contenders in free agency and will continue to add stars every now and then which means....not all of these guys make it...I don't mind trading them...

the trick is to determine which ones

the trick is to determine which ones

1996-2000 Yankees made trades with their prospects, but in most cases they didn't deal Jeter, Mo, etc... but they did rid themselves of guys like Russ Davis and Ricky Ledee, in order to get the players they need. Good scouting does wonders for a team.
