The Yankees have agreed on a deal to buy Al Leiter from the Marlins, Newsday reports.

MLB.com is still saying another player is involved in the deal, but according to Newsday, it's a cash transaction, with the Yankees sending about $250,000 to Florida and paying about $150,000 of what the left-handed is still owed this season. The deal is expected to become official today, allowing the Yankees to start Leiter tomorrow against the Red Sox. Jul. 16 - 12:11 pm et

Leiter is better than anything else we'll throw out there, so whatever. He might be able to do something good for us. I certainly feel better with him than Sean Henn, Darrell May, Tim Redding or whoever else we'll pull for the game.

HAHA, stupid Yankees. How come they didn't go after Burnett?

How is it stupid? Granted he's not an ace or anything close, but it's better than sturtz or may. Simple fact is they don't have anybody else. And we don't need another overated young starting pitcher.

completely agree. He's not going to come in and be a savior, all i hope for is for him to keep us in the game.

Well, it's obvious that you made this post after the game. I don't think you would've said that if Leiter pitched terribly.
