Yankee fans are predicting a 4 game sweep on their part. If we lose this we could just attribute it to the fact that many of our players played over the All Star break, while the Yankees were much less affected.

i like variteks chances for this series, so far he has the best numbers of the sox against ny this year, 10 for 25 hits--dont count out edgar as well, last series against the yanks he belted 3 homeruns

Typically we know early in the game if the Sox are going to have "one of those nights" vs. Mussina where we can't hit him. Regardless, if we at least make him throw a lot of pitches, we get to their bullpen early. Then the fun really begins.

 

I don't see us getting sweeped - far from it. The Sox know how important this series is, and in Fenway, with a lot of possible playoff teams on deck.... I think we'll do just fine.

I'm a Yankee fan and I don't see any possibility of a sweep. Tonight starts what will probably be a make or break 11 game road trip for the Yanks. Luckily for me im going to 5 of those games lol.

If it doesn't happen, I'm not going to slit my throat, but it's really important that we win this game. If we can take down the Yankees best pitcher in game one, that should be a boost of confidence to our club and I'd bet big money on it that we'd take the series if we take game one -- and yes, I know it's a four game series, I still think we take the series 3-1.
