Why is everyone compelled to take shots at the Yankees, all the time? Not really directed at you, but I've really dealt with a lot of crap this year from everyone and their mother about the season. I'm not a guy who's rubbed the Yankees dominance in anyone's face, yet I've felt the brunt of it, because I'm a big Yankee fan. Obviously I'm asking for trouble coming to a Sox board, but it does piss me off to no end.

You bring up a good point. The only reason I can see for it, and it's a small one, I admit, is the fact that the yankees winning percentage is, well, its .500, and they flat out suck. So I guess that might explain it. Otherwise, I'm at a loss.

ARod, you have definitely come to the wrong place to say you are a Yankees fan. No matter how nice you are to these guys, they will try and rip you a new one. Call you a moron, a shmuck, loser, no matter what you say to them. Give them props on winning last years WS and they take it and run, reminding you on how they came back to beat you. You'll get no respect here, if you aren't a Sox fan, you aren't s***.. This from my own personal experience here, and I've been nothing but cordial to these guys.
Posted
Because while you may be a Yankee fan that hasn't rubbed their dominance in other peoples faces... you're the exception to the rule. It's not meant to be a shot at you -- just a shot at the Yankees fans that do insist on constantly reminding us of the past.

Again, I deserve all that because I had the audacity to be a Yankee fan. How dare I?! Boy that is ridiculous. Who cares if he supports his team! They're playing .500!!!

I gave Sox fans a lot more credit than Met fans, but perhaps it was unfounded. You seem to be just as if not more bitter, and you won the whole thing last year. Championship changed nothing, same attitude.

Talk your crap now, enjoy it.

Whoa, hey now, that wasn't a personal attack. You will note the light hearted, albeit mocking tone that was used. You have to admit that there's at least something funny about a team with a 200+ million dollar payroll having a .500 record this late in the season.

You support the team, I'm glad. There seem to be a lot of fans who have jumped ship over the past two seasons for your team. I'll be the first to admit that the Red Sox bandwagon is growing inversely proportional to the Yankees one. It's no coincidence.

The only reason we're bitter is because MOST yankee fans, not all (you seem to be an exception rather than the rule), refuse to accept the fact that things may have changed, and will revert to arguments based SOLELY on the past in order to "shut Red Sox fans up".

I know you're a good poster, from netsports and everything. Good for you for supporting your team, and thank you for not making stupid arguments. Because of the nature of message boards, the worst of all sides tend to come out. Most yankee fans on sox boards are insipid trolls, and sox fans on yankee boards are righteous *******s who think they're fighting the good fight but are only making fools of themselves.

So, in the end, this post really has no point. I've lost my train of thought. We, or at least I, don't hate you for being a yankee fan.

You didn't have to respond to this thread, but I guess when Sox fans have a thread about the Yankees and some Yankee fan sticks up for their team and then takes a shot at the Sox while they're making a post then you get some criticism.

I don't think I've taken any personal shots at you ARod2212, and you seem like a good guy but that avatar and maybe a couple comments may have made you feel unwelcome. Bam-Tino, I've tried to explain to you that it's more the other Yankee fans that came over here the same time you did is my problem. Also, ARod2212, nice xanga site you run there, have one as well.

Yankee fans, don't confuse disrespect from our side with us trying to treat you as best as possible. You're Yankee fans, everything that 99% of Sox fans have grown up hating, your fan base has rubbed everything in our faces for the last 50+ years so when we finally have our year, expect us to get back at you. Don't take it personally.

"Is this what it feels like to be a Yankees fan everyday?"

Not at all. It was just a bad night; it happens once in a while. There is another game tomorrow, and there is not only hope, but expectation of winning more often than not.

For Yankees fans, it's getting to be a daily routine. For tomorrow's game, there is nothing but a sense of dread that it may be worse than today.

Credit where credit is due. There Yankees were a great team.

P.S. ARod2212, your post on the individual game forum is why you are treated bad. Stop yah crying about how you're treated because no one cares if it 'pisses you off to no end' if you want to keep ripping our team and fan base.

Oh, yeah... forgot to be a nice guy and remind you to enjoy the rest of the season.

Like I said before, it wasn't directed at him nor other people here. The point is that I have put up with this banter for too long, not here but in real life. I know for you guys its been gravy since Game 4 of the ALCS, but for me its been hell. Not from Sox fans, whom I've respected for winning, but Met fans who started taking shots at me and the Yankees in general. It's simply gotten worse and worse since that 19-8 game.

It's next to impossible to deal with, and there is a need to vent the frustration. Now I'm seeing this garbage from those I respected, who are needlessly taking shots at the Yankees. Again, I'm not here to start a fight. Just very difficult times and this is an outlet.

... And it was so easy to be a Sox fan after Game 7 of 2003. Am I supposed to feel bad because you've experienced once what most of us have experienced throughout our entire lives?

^ Ding, ding, ding... we have a winner. You think it's tough being a Yankees fan and dealing with Sox fans? I can't imagine how you'd feel if your team finished behind our guys for the next 9 years in the AL East and we dominated you in the playoffs.

ARod, I have taken on this attitude.. Our team can't win them all, and it's o.k. for them to have an off season. For those who think it's a cardinal sin if their team isn't always first, then it will come back to bite them in the ass.. Have respect for the teams that do well for the season, and always remember... There's always next year.. The Yanks have this history for being arrogant, and that is our fault as fans as well as the owner's.. King George has once again expected to much out of his players.. This year, he may just be taught a lesson...

Well, I would really love to be able to do that. But it is impossible for me to quit on the team. And until I do, I can't accept that. It's a nice thought, but its something I won't be able to handle until the team is dead and buried in November.

They're not done.

I don't think 'King George' expects too much, I mean it's a $208M team that hasn't won a World Series since 2000 and just got done being beat in four straight games by your rivaled team in the postseason. All the statements is getting a little ridiculous from Steinbrenner, but you should expect to win.

a-rod now this is why i dont like yankee nation, we always get the arrogant s.o.b.'s gloating--see now when red sox have won their games, ill be celebrating with my friends at home or bars, yea and ill admit when yankees lose we may laugh and joke about it--but how sad is it to go on the main forum website on your rival team and repost the same f***in blog in each section about how the sox lost one game??? besides guess whos comin back like a hurrican to run down your boys like he did striking out the side in game 6 :D

They're .500 at the All Star break. Schillings coeing back which will only help the Sox so I don't see them winning the East, ther only chance they have is maybe, if they are lucky, the wild card, and I dont even see them winning that because there are too many competitive teams in the AL.

HAHAHAHA!....We have stepped into the 9th ring of hell. I just witnessed, and I still don't believe it, a Yankee fan whining about how tough it is to recover from a devastating loss ..... ON A RED SOX MESSAGE BOARD!!! Where am I?

I don't think Schilling coming back will be what everyone thinks it will. Look what happened last time. He will never be the same pitcher he was. I think he screwd up last year pitching in the playoffs. I'm not saying he's done or won't be effective, just saying everyone is getting there hopes up thinking he wil come bak and dominate. The Yankees will make it intresting in the comin months. Just wait and see.

  :wetodd: were you even watching the playoffs last year when he came back from being injured, more or less gave the yankees their pacifier. nice deal getting randy johnson i see ;), got him thru 2006 haha

What I meant I think he screwd up his ankle for life when he pitched on it. That's what I meant by he screwd up. Randy will be fine. Roger sucked the first year we got him.

Of course the Yankees will make it interesting. What isn't interesting about seeing a $208 million payroll play .500 ball? Do you realize that at $208 million the Yankees are spending $84.8 million more than the next highest team, the Sox? That means that 20 teams (2/3 of the league) spend less money than the DIFFERENCE between the Yankees and the Sox. If they don't make the playoffs, this may be an even bigger choke than the ALCS of last year. What isn't interesting about colassal chokes?

The Yankees will win the American League East in the year 2005, en route to a World Championship. Don't believe me, mock me, do whatever the f*** you want. But we're taking it.

No personal attacks at anyone, I have respect for Yankee fans who know what they're talking about and know how to stay loyal to a team they like...but because of the rivalry, we are forced to hate each other. That's just how it goes. The shots we take at Yankee fans are the general public of them that have shoved dirt in our faces for the past 80 f***ing 6 years and now what do we get to say? "BLOW ME f***ER". I say it to Yankee fans like the one I saw in Martha's Vineyard last year (of course, they flock there because they have no balls to show up on the Massachusetts mainland, nevermind Boston) who are brain-dead about baseball and jumped on the Yankees bandwagon and yelled "1918" and "26 rings" and "When was the last time your team won the World Series?"...and are retarded enough to say, "WELL YOU LOST NOMAR," after I explained to their face, why, statistically and everything, Manny was a superior left fielder to Hideki Matsui , which I shouldn't have needed to explain as that's a no f***ing brainer.

So again, if you aren't one of those fans, and be honest with yourself now, because I know most of the Yankees fans that exist don't think anything is wrong with them, then the comments aren't intended for you. You only think they are because when we say Yankee fans, you automatically assume we mean all of them when we actually mean the general public of them...and most of you are also oblivious to the fact that the general public of Yankee fans are brain-dead IDIOTS. Go to Yankee Stadium, and ask some fans if they can identify who the rookie that starts on the Yankees is. Then examine your data, assuming you know how to analyze it, and see how many got it correct. You may be surprised :D.

May I also ask why Aaron Boone is your avatar when your name is Arod? And also, that picture is pointless...there's no more "1918" s*** and you didn't even win the whole goddamn thing that year. Bitch please.

My favorite moment of recent years from the Yankees, and it doesn't matter they didn't win. Two other of my favorite moments were Tino and Brosius going deep in the World Series off Kim. Guess what, they lost that year too. Doesn't make the moments any less memorable.

And again, I'm not a 5 IQ Yankee fan. I know the people you are talking about, but that simply isn't me. I'm trying to follow sabermetrics and I'm more or less a stat head. I know way more about the game than the average fan, and I feel there is no reason to question my credentials.

I agree, people are stupid. There are stupid Red Sox fans, stupid Yankee fans, stupid Met fans (ok, most Met fans are stupid), stupid non-baseball fans. That is a fact of life. What you need to do is give people the benefit of the doubt until they prove they are in fact, stupid. It doesn't take much for them to show their stupidity.
