I read in ESPN the Mag that he could be a solution to our problems. On a bad team, lefty, blah blah blah. I think it would be possible for him to come here and I think he would be a good fit as a lefty alternative to Timlin, or even Foulke if there were a host of lefty batters coming up. But the one problem is that he would come with a high price tag. You think one of our high level prospects would be worth Guardado?

Not really - but I do know one thing. Every time I see Embree come in a game this year, I pee my pants.

Eddie has been great for the Mariners so far this season, he is around the league leaders in saves with 19 (2nd in the AL). However, I don't think he would be worth a spec, and we already have Foulke, so he is not needed that badly.

i cringe when francona calls in embree with a slim lead like yesterdays game, that is just playing with fire and it proved to be right. as embree was responsible for the men on the base when he left, had scored to tie it up. i know tito wants to give him some more playing time, truely though it be best to try and see if any teams want to trade for him, also mantei

Like with any other potential deadline deal, Guardado would be an excellent addition to the staff if he didn't cost a top prospect. He's been a fantastic reliever for years now and he did it in a playoff race with Minnesota, so he wouldn't buckle under pressure.

Leftties are actually hitting better (.241) against him than righties (.164), so using him as a lefty specialist wouldn't make sense. That being said, we already have Mike Myers as a specialist to get lefties out, so Eddie could just pitch in the 7th or 8th inning as a setup man.

Yeah he really does suck.....he's been under a 3.00 ERA the last several years....worthless in my opinion....Embree is by far better with his 8.00+ ERA.....why the hell would we want to waste a trade for Fat Eddie

....because he's better than everyone in our bullpen

Guardado would waive no-trade clause to join Sox

According to Tuesday's Boston Herald, the Mariners have told those inquiring about Guardado that his price tag is high: a top prospect, plus a starting pitcher or a power-hitting DH or outfielder. However, should the price come down in the next few days and the Red Sox become interested, Guardado would agree to waive his no-trade clause to come to Boston: "If it's a good deal for both teams, he would waive his no-trade clause for Boston," Guardado's agent, Kevin Kohler, told the Herald.

Yeah I just read that. Hey yankeessuck how was thailand?

Maybe if we sent shoppach and stern over there that could get us him.

doubt shopp and stern would be enough, prob want lester, papelbon, or sanchez included in that deal also

I'm still in Thailand about another 2 weeks til I come home, I have been getting on the internet about everynight. But its so weird, The East Coast (boston & NY) are 11 hours behind thailand, so I'm posting when like everyone is asleep practically, and you guys are posting when I'm asleep. The weather has been so hot (heard its been hot in the states too) and the ladies are DAMN fine soxfan, wearing the shortest skirts you could imagine possible

eddie guardado is too much of a risk, sure he is doing great this season bute he is known to be injury prone--along with the ridiculous fact seattle wants to have a starter, top notch reliever and a power slugger in return for him. god no thanks seattle ;)
