Honestly though I think the Yanks and Sox will be in it at the end. They still have way too much talent to keep underachieving all season. I think because of the way their team is structured they are more prone to losing streaks than the Sox. But in the end there is no way Baltimore will beat either the Sox or the Yankees.

yeah Ill pay attention to the Yankees when they're not in 4th place. More importantly we're only back 1 game of the Os.

 

Anyone else notice that the Os have beat the Yankees 5 out of 6 games this year. Thats pretty much the difference between this year and every other year for the standings in the division. Normally they roll over for the Yanks so its good to see them beating them.

That's also untrue saying our pitching is not great. Our pitching is really on track right now. Pavano had a bad start last game, but our bullpen is on right now. If it wasn't for two walkoff home runs, Foulke would've made the Sox lose two to the A's. Mariano had problems. but his problem's are fixed. Foulke is has had problems and still does. I think Foulke will get it together, he's a good closer, but he's still struggling, and really dispite his 8 saves has problems all year.

 

 

Rivera's fine against other teams, it's just the Red Sox he struggles badly against. Gordon still can't get lefties out, Quantrill's way too hittable, and Felix Rodriguez has problems just taking showers. As for your hitting, Matsui had busted out of his slump Monday, and Cano will never hit.

Cano was 2 for 4 last game he played. I bet he won't have problems agaisnt them anymore. Mariano will end up owning the Sox before the year is over. Gordon has improved, so has Quantrill.

hey i dont mind if mariano gets a couple saves against the sox this season. nothing will take away those blown saves in the playoffs that helped us win the championship. its not like hes going to blow every save against the sox for the rest of his career. but hes not automatic like he used to be so ill take that

No Mariano is not the same pitcher he once was. He's still the most dominating and feared closer in the game, though. Even if its just by reputation. There's closer than can throw it harder (Gange) and have better pitches (Foulke,wagner,Smoltz-When he was a closer). But ya gotta give Mariano some credit he's done it all this time with just two pitches, heat and that amazing Cutter.

Not true, if you look at recent trends, going back to last year, Gagne and Lidge are by far the best two closers in the game. You could even throw Krod in the mix, but this is his first year officially closing. Rivera is a top 5 at best at this point in his career, which is still amazing at the age of 35.

the yankees are on a win streak sure, but it's agains the a's an the m's. then you play the below average mets (is pedro pitching?). the yankees will contend and be in the post season but al east title is still a ways away. memorial day is around the corner and that is going to be an extremely key series for both teams.

May I officially dub YANKEESRULE as the single dumbest poster who is still active (and moderators I believe he should be banned for the same reasons EmpireStrikeBack was.) The Yankees are down in the standings he predicted another 86 year drought he's just starting trouble for the sake of doing it and being stupid.
