Wells, Miller, Arroyo, Wake, Clement, etc.....all are decent but none are ace caliber. In the end I would like to have Schilling #1, Miller #3, Clement #4. In the playoffs it would be best to have Wells come in for a late start where he could battle for a win. Wake has been most effective in the playoffs coming from the bullpen.

We still need another ace to have that 1-2 punch in the playoffs. Can we get one this year??

Sheets signed a deal. Burnett is on a team looking for the division. Think Jake Peavy is available?? Clemens or Oswalt?? Schmidt??

I'm just throwing out names but pitching wins and would certainly put us over Baltimore and the Yanks who are seriously struggling in that area.

you sure sound like a spoiled yankee fan, heh. we were very very fortunate to have 2 aces last year. for us to have 2 again this year, that would be awsome, but i don't see it happening. i think it would be great for us to win it all with 1 ace and even greater with no aces.

I don't know... I agree we need pitchers with dominant stuff to win in the playoffs, but we don't necessarily need two aces.

Sure it would be great to have two #1 starters in the rotation like last year, but you surely remember 2003. That team was 5 outs from heading to (and winning!) the World Series but they didn't have a closer for the last game in NY.

The final 2003 playoff rotation was:

Pedro

Lowe

Wake

--------

Burkett (didn't he start game 6 of the alcs?)

--------

Suppon

This year it could be:

Schilling

Miller

Clement

----------

Wells

----------

Wake

Arroyo

If healthy, that's better than the 2003 postseason staff. Plus we still have Foulke who will come around.

Yes Burkett started and shocked me anyways... anyways we were fortunate then and I think our rotation is above others in the playoffs, lets not worry about that quite yet though and start to pull the regular season together.

i would love to see Jake Peavy in a Sox uniform!!

although i dont think that starting pitching is an area for concern

i would love to add a long middle relief, and i hope Foulke comes along

besides that i would hit Mueller lower in th eline-up cause he is a very solid hitter

If we got Jake Peavy, I would go and celebrate the whole night. I don't think we would get him though. San Diego is doing great so far this year between Peavy, Eaton, etc. Peavy will get somewhere in his career. Hes young, talented, and unstoppable. Not to mention he hasn't lost since last September.

There was an article about him in ESPN the magazine and either the San Diego GM or a scout or someone in the organization, said that he wouldn't trade him for A-Rod or Pujols even if their contracts were the same, so he's not going anywhere.
