That is crazy. Half the players on both sides don't buy into the rivalry at all, and don't really care if they are playing for the Yanks or the Sox. This country is too PC, everyone has to love each other, or else.

I enjoy watching the games, because I love the Sox and hate the Yanks, but the media needs to stop making it more then it really is.

Wait....are they actually going to do it? I mean...it's not going to do anything, the Yanks and Sox will go out there to shake hands not wanting to, Yankee fans will be booing and chanting Red Sox suck. Dumb idea that should never have been even considered.

There's much to be said for good sportsmanship and all that, but pro sports is show business and that's that. The drama and antics that come with animosity and static between teams and players can only add to the bottom line. Ask Vince McMahon. He knows how to cultivate repeat customers.

As a fan, I enjoy the spontaneous theatrics. The gesture that Manny made toward Miguel Cairo, and Cairo's facial expression upon learning that he had not cleared the fence, after his triumphant run around the bases, was the funniest thing I've ever seen. Even funnier than anything I've seen on pro wrestling, and we know how over-the-top they go sometimes.

And Varitek's pimp slap to Rodriguez? Great theatre. A game winning home run makes for a good day. A pimp slap to one of the game's biggest stars of all time creates a buzz that may last for years.

Things between the sox and the yankees are just getting good. A few years ago the teams were like friends. You could tell that the players really didn't care about the rivalry, and they just let the fans have their fun. They got paid no matter who they played, so why bother?

But, particularly with last year, the teams are starting to become enemies. I can guarantee you that, had Wells been a yankee last year, there's no way he's playing on our team. It's great. Arod slapping Bronsons and Varitek punching Arod is classic. Some people argue that it ruins the game's image, but I think it only adds to it. Who wants to see a boring 3 hour snoozefest? Not me.

Although I wasn't alive to see it, this reminds me of what I imagine the 70's were like, with Fisk attempting to beat the s*** out of every Yankee he saw. I love it, and seeing them shake hands would ruin it.

Can u imagine how less fun the season would be if the res sox and yanks were buddies.... thats like the equivelent of bin laden coming to the white house for an afternoon cup of tee... forget about it!!! damn kids

Yeah, I don't like the idea. This isn't a picnic. It's a baseball game. The rivalry is great, it draws a lot of fans and everything.

I don't like the idea at all.

Yep. Come game time, even if they're good friends and shake hands and all that, they're still the Red Sox and they're still the Yankees. There's always gonna be hard feelings.
