Reporters in the AZ desert have quoted Nomar as saying that he doesn't want his ring and the Sox can keep it. Let's sell it and give the money to charity. Thats what I'm sure Mr. Hamm would want. What a horrible attitude on that guy. Thank god he's gone huh, I heard Mia and his wife are starting some good size charity in Chicago and that Mrs. Porkchop is supposed to throw out the first pitch. As a Sox fan I think I can say for all of us "Good Riddens *******"

I'm not sure if we can say "good riddance *******" quite yet. You don't know the context of this, not to mention the fact that the source on this is from Arizona. Maybe he didn't want the ring because he felt that he wasn't a part of the championship team? Maybe it wasn't as cold as you imply.

looks like nomar has a change of heart

Next in line is Nomar Garciaparra, who will receive his 2004 World Series ring with the Cubs this year according to the

CHICAGO TRIBUNE.

The world champion Red Sox decided to hand out 500 World Series rings. Garciaparra was traded by the Red Sox to the Cubs on July 31.

"I thought I'd probably get one," Garciaparra said Friday. "Especially after the team voted me a [World Series] share, which was really nice."

The Red Sox play the Cubs at Wrigley Field on June 10-12, but the presentation is likely to be done earlier. There are no set rules on who is entitled to get a World Series ring.

"Kevin Millar [said] he was a rookie with the Marlins [in 1997] and played three games and got one," Garciaparra said. "Remember, it's a championship season, not a championship series."

I never particularly cared for Nomar--i thought he wasnt clutch and tended to pop up or strike consiustently at key moments, that swinging at the first pitch thing was selfish and I am not a fan of the stoic, stand-offish thing, but he was a great ball player in his own right...and a true redsox--I dont harbor the same feelings of animosity or disdain that I do for a certain big mouithed baby pitcher who left for the mets...and wish Nomar well in the future and appreciate his effort as a memeber of the sox in years past. I definitely think he desrves a ring--I dont think they should be handing them out to anyone who played an inning, but f*** it, these guys went through the wars as a team and they can and should do whatever pleases them--they have been incredibaly generous from what I've read with shares as well. Unlike those f*** head yankees who are as stingy as s*** and just total f***heads about this kind of thing (would you expect anything more)--the sox have proven what a classy a team they are and what kind of front office they have.

wear your ring with pride Nomar (you wont get one with the cubs at least not this year) as he said it was a championship year and he was a part of it.

Good luck this season Nomar see ya in July.

I'd be surprised if the Cubs weren't one of the final two teams in the league this year, vs. us or the Yankees.

No reason why Nomar can't get one this year.

You know, I kind of think Nomar said that because he would have preferred to win the ring with the team. I don't want to pretend to understand what the emotions are like being with a club that long and being traded mid-season only to see your former teammates go on to wint he World Series, but that's life. I hold no grudge against a competitor who finds a ring to be less thrilling because he wasn't there at the end.

welcome to the site tech, and I can't imagine how hard it must be to watch the team you have been with for so many years to go on to win the world series for the first time in 86 years. But, I do think that nomah desreves a ring!

It depends on which Nomar you’re talking about. There was good Nomar in the late 90's (or at least we thought so). I would say good riddance to the Nomar of 04. The team had better chemistry with Pokey Reese than they did with him. I remember him as crybaby who cared less about his team. He did not like 17.5mil and now he is (humbly) happy with 8mil and only one-year contract? What a stupid moron!

As far as him winning World Series with the Cubs, I would say let those Chicago media daydream, we did that for 86 years.

Nomar deserves a ring, even though he wasn't really part of the team, he did give us good years in building up to this championship. As Millar said, he only played 3 games with the Marlins, and got a ring for that! Yanksin2010 is right, he has done a lot for us, and we shoud reward him for that.

change your name to west coast jack off. who the hell are you to say why or why not he doesn't want the ring. would you want the ring if you were him? i sure wouldn't. he was barely part of this team. for all you know he could not want it because he didn't feel like he contributed to the team winning a ws. if that's the case the give the guy a friggan cookie!.

don't jump to conclusions about people, it's unnecessary.

p.s.- you guys are silly, nomar was putting up monstrous numbers for a ss, his asking price was high but it's nothing that was impossible seeing that jeter was making 19+ and a-rod was making 25. he was asking what he thought he deserved, simple as that. then he got injured, he's obviously not going to get that. the 1 year 8 mill deal is for him to prove himself to teams. if nomar puts up another 30+hr, 125+ rbi, .330/.400/.575 season he'll easily command the best deal on the market.

Posted

yeah, because dirt dog is a great site.... they have more sides on topics than kerry does. one day it's great to have a-rod, the next day it's bad. they are extremely biased and just hate on a lot of things. nomar did a lot for the sox, he left in a shitstorm but what can you really expect of the situation? if you were a top 2 ss in the league and the team you helped build wanted to trade you for the #1 ss in the game you would feel the same way. not to mention he heard it via radio on his honeymoon.

Great post right there.

And, yeah, if the best site you can find this on is BDD, then you need to find a better souce. I go there every once in a while, and some of the stuff they have there is funny, but it is almost all fiction.

Check out the Dirt Dogs from 2/25/05 it was a quote and it was witnessed by DD reporter Jessica. She claimed that he was not kidding around!

"DD reporter," which means some random fan who was in Chicago. I'm not basing any form of hatred on one of my all time favorite Red Sox because Jessica said he was not kidding around. Sorry.

you reak of a post 2003 sox fan. yea, we were better off with cabrera last year due to the defensive upgrade. we don't know how we'll do with renteria, right now it's all speculation and assumptions. of course we all wish for the best.

nomar garciapopup, HA. more stuff backing you are a post 2003 fan. nomar was the man. you obviously never watched nomar, the guy who rarely struck out and batted 372/434/599.

zip your trap.

ahhchon, I agree that Nomar was the man, but he clearly wasn't at the end there. I'm definitely a pre-'03 fan, but GarciaPopUp was a pretty good description of him for a while there. He's probably one of my favorite players, but this team needed the defense at SS and there was clearly something wrong with him physically that made him a liability.

john you're just an angry sad little man..always attacking the poster and not the post.

" a post 2003" fan, why the contempt for "fairweather" fans, so what. A sox fan is a sox fan and always welcome here.

I agree with zenny's post word for word...I also think getting rid of him was win-win...he wasnt happy and it showed.

He is clobbering the ball now, 6 hrs and someone told me he is 500 in spring ball.

Signing a one year deal...was abit myopic, but that's nomar. He's playing to make more money, and I cant hold that aginst him..the cubs will benefit for a year and then he;ll probably sign out west for mega bucks. I wish him well, and he was the man for a long time, but by the end it was time for a divorce and time to go in sepoarate directions.

I wish him well.

i never doubted the fact that the trade for cabrera was bad, it was good. yes, nomar had his share of popups but to all us real sox fans we knew that for every popup he got on base 10 times. (figure of speech for you bitches out there).

and you're a sad little man that has nothing better to do than sit on talk sox and refresh until the name "ahhchon" comes up in a thread. the difference is that i voice my opinion on everyone, you have nothing better to do than to focus on me. it's flattering either way.

you're right a sox fan is a sox fan, i have nothing against the fact that he's a fairweather fan, i have a problem with the fact that he's bashing nomar when he never even saw what nomar really did for this organization. that's my problem.

it's great that you agree with zenny, if that helps you justify your post then by all means agree with him, hell, i agree with him too. OMG OMG OMG
