The Boston Red Sox got an extra bill after winning the World Series. Boston and Anaheim must pay baseball's luxury tax along with the New York Yankees, according to final figures compiled by the commissioner's office.

The Yankees are required to pay $25,026,352, according to a Dec. 21 memorandum that was sent to all major league teams. Boston owes $3,155,234 for exceeding the payroll threshold of $120.5 million and Anaheim got a bill for $927,059.

And by Yankee fan logic, the amount of tax the Red Sox paid is in the neighborhood of what the Yankees paid because it's the second most.

That must be the "yankee math" in which a dollar amount eight times greater is actually the same amount B)

Did we go over the cap because of bonuses incurred from winning the world series. I know there are performance based incentives, so is that what pushed us over?

I'm trying to find out but I assume it is based on payroll, with bonuses included. Did the bonuses push us over the limit? I need someone who is good at math to figure that one out
