BDD Source: Martinez is seeking 4 years/$15M per,

Yanks are offering 3-4 years at $14M per year

Pedro initiated get-together, Steinbrenner says meeting was "good"

BREAKING NEWS EXCLUSIVE: Update 4:58pm ET: Pedro Martinez, his agent Fern Cuza, and Yankee executives Randy Levine, Mark Newman, Billy Connors, Brian Cashman, and George Steinbrenner are meeting in the Boss's 4th floor office at Legends field right now.

According to a Boston Dirt Dogs source, Pedro Martinez was picked up at Tampa International Airport this morning at 10:00a.m. by a Yankee official and is meeting with George Steinbrenner now at the Yankees complex. Pedro will be having lunch with the Boss, possibly at Malios Steakhouse, and touring the facilities at Legends Field in Tampa all afternoon. Stay tuned for further developments.

"I promise, I'm not going to the Yankees. I want to stay right here."-- 10.29 Pedro Martinez to The Boston Globe's Stan Grossfeld

"Make the deal for Zito or Hudson, sign Pavano, and let's all admit that the Red Sox are now Schill's team anyhow. Let the Yankees over-sign another old pitcher one centimeter away from a torn rotator cuff with a guaranteed contract."-- Longtime Red Sox aficionado Shaun Kelly

Not sure if you know about this yet because I haven't been on in a while!

I hope this does not go any further

let me tell you something, pedro signing with the yankees is not for the best of the team. not im my eyes at least.

this is his first season in which he had none amazing era. damnit, i can't even grasp this, it sucks so much. nothing worse than seeing your favorite pitcher pitch for an opposing team. but hey, if the yankees are going to offer 3-4 years @ 14 per he'll most likely sign there.

if the sox could counter with 3 years 13 per with a club option for a 4th year i honestly think he'll stay with the sox. the 1 mill per year is too little of a difference for him to leave.

BUT 3-4 years at 14 mill SO MUCH > than 2 years 25 mill. if he leaves, i don't blame him one bit.

Pedro signing with the yankees is infinitely worse than Clemens signing with the yankees. Plus, all those stupid spankee fans would embrace him like the guy who never tossed Zimmer aside and mowed down all those yankees over the years.

AHHHHHHHHHHH

What did Pedro Martinez say to George Steinbrenner? "He told George how much he wanted to be a Yankee," added a baseball official with knowledge of the talks. "We'll see if there's anything there."

I DONT BELIEVE IT!!!!!!

Two people close to the situation said that no offers were made and that Pedro Martinez's agent, Fernando Cuza, was the one who reached out to Steinbrenner and initiated the meeting. That could mean that Cuza is just using the Yankees to get the Red Sox or other interested teams to up their offers to Martinez. But even so, the possibility of Martinez signing with the Yankees can't be ruled out.

UHHHHH OHHHHHH

ESPN (Jayson Stark) says that Pedro's just using the Yankees for leverage on teh Sox, and the Yankees are using Pedro for leverage to get the Diamondbacks to trade them RJ.

“I am not asking for anything that I don’t deserve” -Petey

Pedro clarified that he expects the highest bidder to offer not only money, but to treat him with the respect he is used to
