I have to go with Bronson.

There were lots of times where we had just come off of a crappy pitching performance by Lowe or Wake or Pedro and Bronson would go out there and give a quality start and keep the team in the game, especially on the road, and receive zero run support, take a tough loss and yet give the Sox every opportunity to win the ballgame.

All of this while some people were calling for Kim in the rotation. I remember Jeff Brantley assaulting Arroyo every chance he could in a game against the Yankees in April saying, "He's pitching his way out of the rotation," all while giving a quality start against a great offensive team.

i also give the nod to bronson...i havent read zennys post yet so i might repeat some things but probably not considering i dont go too in depth...

ok, hes just been our little spark plug when we need him. hes won the games hes needed to, and has a great attitude towards this game. hes young, and has TREMENDOUSLY helped us win games on the road, considering we struggle.

hes young, and will help us a lot in the future.

I voted Bronson Arroyo. The guy gets no love despite a 4.29 ERA/1.25 WHIP, and a .252 BAA. Arroyo's striking out 7 batters per 9 and has a 109:37 K:BB ratio. That's almost 3:1.

Compare that to Javier Vazquez (named by many the Yankees "ace")

4.32 ERA (Bronson's better)

1.20 WHIP (Javier's better, but not by much)

.246 BAA (Javier's better, but not by much)

6.65 K/9 (Bronson's better)

120:42 K:BB Ratio (Bronson's better)

In fact, (except W-L record, which can be highly deceptive) Bronson Arroyo's season stats compare favorably with ANY Yankee starter, including Brown, Mussina, Lieber, etc.

Orlando Hernandez ERA (2.87) and BAA (.236) are lower, but his WHIP is higher, and he's thrown a fraction of the games Arroyo has.

hell no vazquez is no way shape or form our ace. El deque is. If gordon hadn't blown a couple games for him, he would be 7-0. Nasty.

he was saying pretty much that aany yankee pitcher can be the same as arroyo...

el duque is a great pitcher no doubt, but hes only thrown 7 games...a fraction of as many bronson has thrown. *would put stat here but too lazy to find how many games arroyo has started*

HAHA! if el duque is your ace, ours is Lowe. Its ridiculous to say that your ace is a guy who has pitched no more than 20 games. El Duque has pitched very well, but he definitely is not teh ace. Brown? Moose? Vazquez? there are plenty of better options for an ace than El Duque. I classify an ace as a guy you want to have out there in game 7 of the world series. Pedro, Schill, Brown, Moose all fit into that category. El Duque? Hell no, there are a ton of pitchers i would take over him in game 7 of a world series

yeah.. anyways, i voted bronson. he has blown away basically any other candidate for this. he has pitched way above anyones expectations, and will be an excellent starter come next season.

i voted for gabe.

The guy took a pay cut to stay with the sox. He always seems upbeat, always stay s positive, he has played brilliantly in rightt, has had some key hits and has thrown out some guys.

Bronson took second in mind. Young, durable, and has a lot of poise. Youk is up there too.

If bellhorn wouldnt strike all the time I might have considered him.

Love this kind of poll anyone is deserving, as far as the yankees go, their whole team sucks and you can have the whole f***ing bunch of them and their fans too.

El Puque, Gordo, Giam-bi, A-rod, they all suck in my book.
