From espninsider:

Aug. 12 - The pain in Gary Sheffield's shoulder is so bad right now that it's making him think hard about his future. The 35-year-old right fielder told The New York Times that he might retire after the season because of chronic pain in his right shoulder. Sheffield, who had a cortisone shot in June to treat the bursitis in his shoulder, also has a damaged acromioclavicular joint.

"Some days are worse than others where you can't deal with it mentally or you want to quit the game altogether," Sheffield told The Times. "... I might feel different tomorrow and say something different. I just feel that way today."

So, will he or won't he? He'd be walking away from a lot of money.

Sheff says a lot of things, that's how he is.

He's in pain right now, and it's frustrating. Understandable. The bottom line is:

Can he recover in the offseason?

I hope so, because I never wish injury on any player (even Yankees).

i can't believe he's still playing, if you ever see him bat every time he swings ans misses, he just screams out in pain would should teach to him stop swinging and missing. When he catches a balll, it off to side.always looks like he's gonna drop it but hasnt yet.
