peter gammons said today on sportscenter that jeff kent might be traded if he is willing to play 1b for boston or 2b for the yanks. that would be amazing if kent were to be our upgrade at first which we seemingly need so badly

I would think if Houston plays better over the next couple weeks, they'll think they are in it, and keep Kent.

If not, my guess would be prospects.

I still must question all of this talk about first base when we have some signifcant gaping issues eleswhere.

It's like polishing the brass on the Titanic while its sinking.

Kent shemnt...we aint going to be playing in October, fella's, if we keep adding to our bullpen with fat stiffs like that doof from the Cubs, what's his name....(can you say suppan and sauerbeck and Todd Jones)...

Plus, that windbag gammons has never been right about anything, until he sees it on the AP..

What does ben maller say?

i cant belive what you just said. say what you want about the 1b issue, and i must say that i am not all too concerned by it either, but NEVER dis THE peter gammons. this guy knows his stuff, he is unbelieveable--i still cant believe what you said

woah woah. NO fighting man. We are all rooting for the same team, its ok. But i agree, i dont think we need to be worrying about Kent now. The pitching is the issue.

The S.S. Astros is on its way down and Beltran could be back on the market as well.

I still believe this team needs rotation help before it needs more offense. Trot, Mueller and Nomar are beginning to find their swings. Damon and Bellhorn are fantastic at getting on base. Ortiz and Ramirez are the best 3-4 combo in the league (no one combines for more HR's, 2B's or RBI's). With those seven guys doing their jobs, this team does not need offense.

What they need is a real, bonafide starter who you are comfortable handing the ball to in Game 3 of a series after Pedro and Schilling. If the Marlins fall out of it, Carl Pavano could be available. Ditto goes for Odalis Perez on the Dodgers and possibly Matt Clement if the Cubs struggle (that has about the same chance of me bone-ing Leeann Tweeden... but I digress...).

I think Dave McCarty should play every day instead of Millar, but I know everyone is going to jump all over me for that, but listen. The way Millar has hit this season, their bats are comparable and McCarty has had some timely homeruns not to mention that Gold Glove caliber defense of his. I want him to get more playing time.

i somewhat agree and disagree with you, but i still say give Millar a chance. Wait until a few weeks after the all star break, and then see how he was doing. AFter all, wasn't millar like 3-5 yesterday?

The stick at first base is not an issue. The only concern I have is with the GLOVE at first base.....But McCarty getting more playing time solves that issue for me...

Definitely. This team needs defense from that position. All the other spots are well covered defensively. Well, at least until Varitek caves in behind the dish and Nomar starts launching them into the stands again.

3-5 yesterday but on a continous decline since end of last season..

Kent seems like an unlikely fit here though.. unless it involves another team trade (nomar for pitching).. and millar out the door plus prospects for Kent.. .. move pokey to SS and kent to 1B.. bellhorn at 2nd..

who knows..

I'm not crazy about the Kent idea. I think if the Sox want OFFENSE there are better choices (Delgado for one)....if they want defense...stick with McCarty.

Use whatever trade resources they are willing to give up to get more arms. Play McCarty at first when defense is needed/wanted (late in games)

yea i dont think the kent idea is going to go through, it was just a thought from peter gammons(who is awesome, sarasoxfan)
