It seems to me as if the Red Sox are constantly fighting back from 1, 2, or 3 run deficits early on in the game. Even though its tied right now in the current game, we were down 2-0, and its unpleasant to score 2 runs and only see the score as being tied.

I'd much prefer if our pitchers could get through the early innings, allow the offense to tack on runs, and THEN maybe give up a little once we're in the lead. It's just annoying from the other side around, ya know?

It is annoying. And it just happened again. We went down 4-2, and then came back 4-4. It DOES seem like a waste of runs if all you're ever trying to do is not lose to the Guardians, doesn't it?

Well Pedro (usually) and Shill don't have that problem...but yeah, it does seem like a chronic problem. Our defense is good, but it needs to be supplemented by good pitching. Not to say our pitching is bad - but we give up too many runs often.

Lol, which is characteristic of bad pitching......

It seems that we do fine later on in games, I dont recall our pitching staff truly blowing a game we had won yet this year. Its more in the early stages that we falter. Oh well, better early than late, right?

Given that our pitching staff has the best ERA in the AL by a full run, I'm thinking that giving up 2 runs in the 1st and then none for most of the rest of the game is better than most of the alternatives. The Pedro vs. Sabathia game in Cleveland comes to mind. Plus, I think the team gets a nice emotional boost from coming from behind to win. There could also be a weather influence in that some of our pitchers may need an inning or two to feel fully warm at the start of the game.
