The issue could be as simple as only having 62 PA..

We are one injury to a top 3 RP'er away from serious trouble- agreed, but the hope is Crawford, Sandoval or Oviedo can slide into a high leverage role. Tolle & Early should stay starting in AAA as long as we can afford to do it.

Could be true, but he's pitched so little in 2-3 years. I do think Crawford fits that role better, and who knows what role is best for Oviedo. Earlier this winter, I had Sandoval as the #5. Now, I see it as a three-way tie, but my guess is Brez & Cora have an idea of who they send to the pen first. The second choice might take ST'ing to sort out.

I believe Oviedo has an option left.  And if everyone is healthy, it’s likely to be used…

Rotation:  Crockett, Suarez, Gray, Bello, Sandoval

BP:  Chapman, Whitlock, Weissert, Slaten, Watson, Moran, Crawford, Tolle

Minors depth 

SP: Oviedo, Early, Uberstine, Bennett

BP: Kelly, Samaniego

I miss anyone? (40 man roster only)

I say DFA Gasper, claim LHRP Anthony Banda, put him in the pen and push Tolle back to AAA…

Perhaps, but until we add a RP'er, I think some starters will begin the year in the pen and not in AAA.

Plus, AAA does not start at  the same time as MLB.

It doesn’t matter  anyway, as he was traded to the Twins so now he won’t be available until August.

Still lots of mediocrity-wannabe’s left on the free agent market.

Maybe then Sox could try something crazy and sign Tony Gonsolin for the bullpen.  (Zero chance.  They might sign him, but it would be to an MiLB contract and he’d be a starter.)…
