Switching up our catching is orders of magnitude more disruptive than replacing Duran with Masa in LF. And hitting in MLB is the most streaky, unpredictable thing in sports. Guys can go hot or cold in the blink of an eye. We could trade Narvy and prospects for Jeffers, and Narvy could out-hit him the rest of the year. That is not out of the realm of possibilities. But knowing the staff and playing good defense are much easier things to bank on. We know what we have there. Jeffers is not a life-long masher. He is hitting way above his career avg's. He could easily come back to earth any day.

We have done great without them. We have 2 all-star SP’s. Everyone has injuries to overcome. We have shown we can beat anyone.

Very true. But Randy Red Sox says it’s not our time, so there’s that. Oh well, there’s always next year I guess. Lmao

DH. George Springer. Replaces Romy and puts Yoshida in LF platoon. IMO. replacing a C that has us winning over a long period is the biggest risk we can take right now. We need to be careful not to shake things up too much. Bringing in a new catcher to learn the staff this deep in the season is a huge disruption. Replacing Romy and/or Jones is waay lower risk. A catcher's job is to command the staff and be solid defensively. We have that. Any hitting they do is a bonus. Plus, Narvaez is a sophomore who hit well last year. He could just as easily get rolling as Durbin did.

Firmly in a playoff spot at the deadline. One of the most historic winning streaks/stretches in franchise history, book-ended with sweeps of the Dodgers and Yankees. One of the best pitching staffs in baseball. Randy Red Sox - "it's just not our time" 🤣🤣

I think it's close. It's kinda tricky to say because we don't have guys that closely ranked. But my thinking is we match 2 top 50 guys and 2 50-100 guys. Their guys are both better by about 20 slots, so we include Witherspoon who is waay better than the 3rd piece they included. My offer is a little less top heavy, but imo 3 better guys as a whole. What is your comp?
-
Yeah, Sox were never even in the discussion anyway. Was just replying what I thought our comp was for fun, But the Brewer's f***ed this up imo. Imagine Miz and Skubal in the playoffs. Now instead of that THEY will likely have to face him to get to the big show. They could have dealt a young arm like Henderson, the #12 and #76, and still would have the best prospect in baseball, the #64 and #87. So not like they would have had to gut the system. If they lose to the Dodgers again this year in playoffs, heads should roll. '

It's less than I thought, I'll admit. Hope and Ryan were a good start, but I figured there would have been more than LAD's #17 after that. I think it would have taken Eyanson, Gonzalez and Witherspoon for us to beat that, which would be too steep for me. Surprised the Rays or Brewers wouldn't step up and beat that, tho. They both know they've never won anything right? At some point you gotta stop playing for the future and just go for it.

Yes, but Madrigal at least showed he could hit in the big leagues in the small sample size he got. And he was only 1 year older. And I feel like my point stands as far as taking BTV values with a bowl of salt. Let me know when they update his value to the real world.

I agree they should be, and probably will. But another W tomorrow and they could get starting smoking that hopium. The difference is the return on the Jays guys will be decent but not franchise altering. So they could say f*** it and just go for it. Whereas Detroit cannot afford to let Skubal walk with anything short of a WS appearance or their GM can just let himself out.

They have a 27yo SS who plays above average defense and is leading the majors in hits and doubles at supposedly "similar value" as a 23yo who has done nothing but get injured and be mid at best when he's been on the field. That is all I need to know. Prospect rankings from multiple years past have very little value in the real world. Can you imagine the laughter from the Marlins GM if we called them up and offered Mayer for Lopez? My comp is Nick Madrigal. Drafted 4th overall. Top rated 2B prospect. Saddled with injuries in his first few seasons. Traded for Craig Kimbrel who was pitching well but was also just off 2 bad previous seasons, and Madrigal was hitting over .750 in 2 seasons but with only 300 AB's. Deadline deal. So Mayer for an all-star lefty reliever seems just fine to me.

If they are sellers I don't think they'd care and would just want the best returns on rentals.. But not so sure they will be now.

Springer keeps hitting and Jays are on a slight roll. If they win tomorrow he could just end up off the table. If not, his price is surely more than it was a week ago. Which sucks.

BTV is utter nonsense. lol. Some of the stuff you guys post as realistic just bc BTV says it is has been laughable. Look, I hope I'm wrong about his value. If he can bring us back some big time talent, no one will be happier than me. But I see no future for him on this team. And I think a lot of you will be very disappointed when we trade him and what we get. Also, just because someone is a rental, doesn't mean their teams just give them away. Especially recent all-stars that several teams will make offers on. And sometimes rentals help you win a ring. Morejon would greatly help solidify our bullpen as one of the best in the league. We could use another reliable lefty in the pen. P.S. I could not care less about Taylor or Mullins in that deal and don't even know who's worth more, To me that deal is Mayer for Morejon, which I do in a heartbeat.

Again, wouldn't be mad, but he's mid. Call him plan F or G. lol. If we're going for a RH LF that isn't a rental, I'd pay more for Heliot Ramos, Lane Thomas or JJ Bleday. That's crazy. I think you are overestimating how much value Mayer has left around the league. Things happen fast in baseball. 2 years of injuries and poor performance will have it's toll. If we can get a strong RP, and a lefty at that, for Mayer, that is a slam dunk.

Nah bro, where is your sense of imagination? We're getting Soto for Anthony and Duran, and then getting Skubal for Bello and Sandoval. Wooooo!
