  1. Correct. You know Boston's shrewd FO. How many years will it take to resign a 30yo catcher? Cubs will offer 5. lmao
  2. According to google AI, the contract time is burned. If they lockout a full year, he becomes a FA.
  3. This. He's supposed to be ready by mid-Aug. I'm not holding my breath, but I'm definitely crossing my fingers. But there are multiple ways this deal goes bad, with the worst case being an injury and/or early exit, and a lockout next year.
  4. Haha. Just crazy enough to work. And I said we'd be do well to get a good RP for Mayer, and was met with much backlash. lol. The subject was Morejon who is better, but a rental. I might still take Morejon for a playoff run over controllable years from Miller, but that might just be me. Still feel validated though. 🤣
  5. For sure. I was never advocating for Skubal. I was advocating for using our eggs to fill multiple baskets instead of putting them all in the hopefully healthy catcher basket. If he comes back healthy and plays well, and the staff doesn't miss a beat, I'll change my tune real quick.
  6. In this case, at this moment, I agree with BTV. Haha This can be a win, but a lot has to go right for it to be, is all I'm saying.
  7. I'm saying based on what other guys were going for, there was more for less to be had. S***, we could have gotten Hicks, Garcia, and Mize without giving up a top 5 guy. We gave up 3 for Adley, and we're hoping he gets healthy. It's a huge gamble.
  8. 🤣 I wonder if Miami knows they could have gotten Erik Miller for Otto Lopez?
  9. Yeah, that was a little hyperbole, but the I'd say they were close. Skubals was a little more top heavy, ours a little deeper. IF we get a good playoff run and at least 100 games of All-Star calibre catcher next year, with some DH games in there as well(IF there's no lock out), I can consider this trade a win. That is a long ways away. Today, I think it is lopsided. But lots can happen, Time will tell.
  10. I love his speed. Think Dave Roberts. Always great to have a guy on the bench in playoffs that can come in and steal you a base. But yeah, wish we didn't have to trade the one pitching prospect we could actually get some innings from this year. lol
  11. It's a very solid lineup if Rut is playing to his standards, and we don't lose any starters to injury/fatigue. I still think we could have gotten more for less, but is what it is now. Hope to eat my words. Let's go boys.
  12. Sure, if he comes back healthy. Red Sox med staff hasn't even gotten their hands on him yet. lol But we could have gotten Hicks as an upgrade offensively without giving up a top 15, kept Narvaez for his D, and used any of those other very valuable chips to get another big upgrade somewhere. If Adley comes back healthy very soon, I may walk this back a bit. But again, big if for me right now.
  13. It's not about them all turning out. Chances are they won't all be great. It's about getting proper value for what they are worth at this moment. We did not do that. Just look at the market today. Nobody overpaid like we did. Yanks got Garcia for nothing in comparison. Rays got Hicks for a few 15-25 prospects. Not saying Hicks is better than Adley, but he's healthy and younger, and having a solid year. '
  14. Yes, I know that. I never said don't ever trade good prospects. In fact, more often than not I'm in favour if the player is worth it. But if you're going to trade the farm, you should get good value in return you can immediately take to the bank. Not a question mark. The downside of this trade is scary. The upside is we hope he stays healthy, has a seamless transition with the pitching staff, win the world series and/or there isn't a lock out next year. and we resign him to a decent extension, A team that was on absolute fire without him.
  15. My issue is that could be a big assumption. Adley 2 years ago and this deal is fine. But a 28yo catcher with injury concerns is a big gamble. And I'm a gambling man by nature. It could very well work, but I don't care for the risk to reward ratio.
  16. And just to be clear, no prospects are untouchable in my books. But it has to make more sense.
  17. He was never untouchable for me. lol I've been the one saying we'd be lucky to get a good reliever for him, and everyone said I was crazy.
  18. No. I was just defending him hard a few days ago to that guy who wanted him fired bc he didn't get Alonso. But this trade is bunk now, and has the potential to be a huge disaster. I'd have preferred they just stood pat with that 28-5 lineup. Our catching situation was not that bad.
