  1. Eyanson is the best of the three IMO. Command, a veritety of pitches, good makeup. So far he dominated HIgh A and looks good in one start in AA. He may see a fast rise in the system. Hopefully the other two figure it out. Witherspoon was supposed to be more of sure thing than Phillips. Welcome to pro ball guys.
  2. Love this kid! Has a variety of pitches he can command. Dominated high A and looks like he’ll be just fine in Portland. He could see a fast rise to AAA if AA goes good the next 2-3 months. We need a RHP in this rotation. Hoping his development continues on this pace.
  3. Maybe not that easy after watching the Devers/Bregman fiasco. Players, and front office personnel for that matter, want security and stability unless they’re a young asst GM offered the Prez of BB ops in Boston because no respected front office personnel wanted to work for Henry.
  4. Sellers for sure. Lots of teams have early mentioned Chapman. He could help bring back someone’s young power bat. He’s got an option that vests for 13 m I believe for 27 after 40ip in 26, so he’s got more than rental value.
  5. Agreed. I don’t think Breslow is going anywhere. At least for 26-27. This Owner has got a bad rep amongst front office personnel around the league. Some Players as well. Watching what happened to Devers and having the policy of not giving a player a NTC is more of a deterrent. I just read where Contreras said the clubhouse is more relaxed and less on edge with Tracey in and Cora out. Which is good. But they’ve still been 500 since. That’s what this team is and has been for the last few years. I love where the starting pitching is headed, but the offense is streaky and mediocre. All lifetime BAs of around 250-265. Not one bat you fear. Relying on a LOT of young ball players is risky. the plan of loading up on pitching and the program they’ve put together seems to be working for the most part. The Problem is you have to pay for the big bats in this league or trade for them with young arms or draft them. Besides a young undeveloped Justin Gonzales, we don’t have much. Since Henry won’t open the wallet we’re gonna have to find some short term(2-3 year) like they tried with Alonso, or pick off someone’s else’s cost controlled big bat. which brings me to the question of early trade proposals. Too early? Do we think this team is good enough to beat the best teams in consecutive series? Not so far. They would have to go about 600 the rest of the way just to get to where they were last year. With that said…Aroldis Chapman, with an option that vests at 40ip for next year could bring that bat back. Overall, ownership needs to start treating their front office personnel and players like humans. NYY are a good model for that consistency. Like them or hate them, they spend most of their team earnings back into the team and don’t fire their GMs and change philosophy every few years. They may make a bad deal or two but that’s the name of the game if you want to be at the top of this game.
  6. Unfortunately no respected MLB front office professional will work for Henry which is why he hired an assistant GM for prez of bb ops. The position has been a revolving door of disrespect from Henry towards the person in that position since Theo left. People want stability in that position, and they want to be respected. They don’t want to buy a house only to have to sell it 3 years later and move the family across the country again. Henry doesn’t provide stability to his front office personnel or his players. No loyalty.
  7. I agree. I think im a little bias because i was never a fan. I do think hes checked out though. this is going to be this offenses problem. LOTs of slumping and inconsistency. Theres a lot of 250-260 lifetime BAs in this lineup like I was saying in an earlier post. personally I do think its time for a managerial change regardless how I personally feel about him.
  8. I think Cora has checked out. There’s a lot of streaky bats in this lineup up and not one legit 300 hitter. Not one legit 30hr bat and too much reliance on young players in their first year or two of MLB with no proven track record. Henry may have a high AAV but his real money spent is around 180ishM with all his backloaded deals. So realistically he can go over and cover the REAL money spend and still be under as far as out of pocket goes. Then after 2027 the payroll drops off a cliff and he can reset again. He’s a cheap ass. I really hope something happens where he sells. I doubt it, but one can still pray 🙏 it happens.
  9. I would have had Yoshida leading off with a 400 obp over a week ago. Same with Contreras and abreu before they started cooling off. Cora stuck with cold bats too long. If I’m Breslow? I quit because I’m in over my head. Stick with pitching and lead that dept. ..Realistically though, we NEED a legit big bat, but the boss is a cheap ass. Bres put together a bunch of guys with 240-270 BAs, which can get you a lot of streaky hitters. Nobody to really fear with all the free swinging going on too. Defense hasn’t been much better and what was supposed to be a dominant starting staff has been mediocre. It’s still early but this team now has to go about 600 the rest of the way to make last years record. I don’t see that with this group and Cora leading this team. I’m not optimistic.
  10. So this is what we can expect moving forward from John Henry now.? This team is a mess and are hard to watch. 6B man and he pinches Pennie’s. Sell the team loser.
  11. Hey Moon, yeah, He’s stubborn about that. I would’ve done it a week and a half ago. I wish this team had a real threat in this lineup. Expect lots of streaky ABs with this mediocre lineup regardless.
  12. Finally Abreu and Contreras with bat in the first inning. Two best hitters so far should be up in inning 1. Good move by Cora
  13. I have them in fourth place with about 84 wins.
  14. We will have to either draft or stock up on starting pitching to trade for a young legit 30hr bat under control since our clown owner won’t go 30m per for one. We’ll have to win with pitching most nights now since we don’t have one guy who has hit 30hr in a year. We’ll have a LOT of 240-270 type hitters so it’s a very streaky lineup with nobody who strikes fear in any MLB starter, I don’t see more than 84ish wins. I hope I’m wrong, but this team doesn’t have that good vibe. Breslow has put together an unbalanced lineup and Cora seems like he’s checked out.
  15. God I hope so. He’s looked good out of the pen. Back before the navel academy he was throwing 98 with command of 3-4 pitches. His fb velocity is more 95ish now last I saw I believe…or has it got back to upper? Can’t remember… Either way, I was happy he was returned and has a chance to make the show.
  16. Thanks! I was on the old globe forum about a decade ago. When it went down everyone scattered. A lot of names ended up here. Good to be back amongst loyal and knowledgeable Sox fans.
  17. He’s 19 with a big future ahead of him. Not fond of some of Breslows move but the dude is smart to load the farm with pitching. Not saying I would trade Valera but If the owner is going on the cheap for a legit power bat, then the next best way is to trade good pitching for a controlled young bat.
  18. Afternoon gentlemen, I’ve been really high on Eyanson. Great control and command of his pitches, with 4 that he has shown he can command with consistency.. Good size and makeup. I could see him being better then the mid rotation starter he’s listed at right now. Looking forward to possibly watching him pitching in Fenway in a couple years.
