  1. If they want Betts Benni AND 3-4 more, they can GFT! NO pitcher is worth that. GMs are out of their mind. First Atl was thinking close to the same for Tehran, and now all that for Sale...no friggin way. Not worth it. NOT.AT.ALL.
  2. Nothing wrong with giving the kid a cup of coffee as long as hes going to play while hes here. Hes dominated every level with a very slight (one week) adjustment at AA...since then hes killed them. Most scouts were predicting a quick climb through the minors anyway, so this should be no surprise to those who followed Benintendi... Its not a glaring need (LF), but still a need for a regular. the fact that hes been taking reps and looking good in LF tells me theyre getting ready to call him up. Maybe itll be september or maybe sooner...either way, IMO were going to see him this year.
  3. So Benni is getting reps in LF in Portland. Probably just preparing him for Sept callups, unless there is more of a need in Boston earlier. Some say he needs to get more reps in AAA and dont rush him, but I say thats ********. This kid isnt like a lot of other prospects and hes not going to need as much seasonsing as most...there was no learning curves until about a week and a very slow start to AA. In exactly one month He has taken a 105 BA to start AA and brought it up to 280. Yeah, im not worried about his bat much...Moncada will be taking reps at 3b to get him ready for his MLB debut shortly after Benintendi. Getting ready for the future now... On a side note...I wouldnt trade either of these prospects.
  4. You dont use him in that situation because hes now your closer at 41yo. You save his bullets whenever you can. Hes been doing this a long time, so a bit of a rest for him is probably better than say someone like Barnes.
  5. Barnes is younger and was just a starter a little over a year ago so im guessing the Ip for him may be slightly different than a 41yo. Or even Taz. Farrell overworks some of his guys. He uses tham a lot when he doesnt need to.
  6. Rosenthal said the WS were offered a "Kings Ransom" for sale within the last 48 hrs and they got a very firm NO. So im guessing hes not going anywhere
  7. I rolled my right ankle twice. Pretty bad too. This was at least 5 years ago and I still have days like this morning where its sore to walk the first little bit after you get up.. Playing on stage in boots for an hour and a half sometimes sucks the next day. Although im a lot older than Blake, it still cam be a nasty lingering injury
  8. Good memory. I forgot that thats where they got TAJ
  9. And I yours...but really, He basically is a china doll at this point so they should be a bit more careful with him. Hes a very exprienced vet. I think the rest does him more good than bad at this point in his career...JMHO I was mad when he came in before the injury. This has nothing to do with it. It sucks because hes hurt, but it might have happened tomorrow or the next day. I get that.
  10. I get that. This is not the first time hes done this so maybe im a little quick triggered here...i admit that. But im not going to change my stance that unless its a save situation he shouldnt throw. They have a very tough schedule coming up and you csnt afford to waste any of his bullets...
  11. With a 4 run lead I would think Zig, Barnes, Hembre, Layne, or Ross would have had the gig last night. Instead Farrell uses his oldest, most fragile pitcher who is their temporary closer in a non close situation. Heck, even if it were a 2 or 3 run lead I would have considered someone else seeing they have 20 games in 20 days...I swear, this guy needs to go. For someone who was a great farm director in Cleveland and a solid pitching coach here, overall he has been a very bad in game Manager both here and in Toronto. Put a suit back on this guy and get him out of the dugout.
  12. You dont "stash" Erod after his last performance. You see if its for real this time. Sure looked like it. We dont need Santana Right now IMO. Porcello Wright price, Pomeranz and Erod seem pretty good to me right now...Why stash Erod? Makes zero sense right now. Depth is importand, but unless pomeranz is slated to go to the pen, which hes not right now, then this doesnt make a lot of sense to me.
  13. Did anyone hear why in Gods name Farrell put Koji in in a non save situation? We do have other guys, but this manager chooses to keep using guys in the wrong situation or just overuse them...Koji had a day off but I believe he had worked a lot recently due to being given the closers role...now he strains his pec muscle? Hopefully there was nobody else available because thats about the only legit excuse for Koji being in there with a 4-0 lead...
  14. For those saying that DD should have secured the depth of the rotation last winter, you might want to rethink that...We already had a rotation set with depth in AAA as well as picking up Elias, which gave us 8-9 options. Your using hindsight and forgetting that a guy like DD most certainly would explore EVERY option. I think his track record should show that. Blaming him for the massive underperformance/injuries from our depth as well as rotation is unfair. Rich Hill wouldnt even come here because there was no guarantee of a MLB roster spot. Kelly and porcello looked great down the stretch. We still had a 23yo in ERod who everyone slotted in the #2 slot before his knee issues. Owens, Johnson, Elias, depth pickups like O'Sullivan and wright was looking at a swing man role. I heard no complaints about our pitching depth, only praise. Especially after getting Price.
  15. Beckett had blister issues with Marlins and had to change the way he gripped the ball. Had them in boston for a short time but we fixed that. Edit: guess i shouldve read the last couple comments.
  16. Why are people saying this guy is over his innings hes ever pitched before..or at least close... You guys might want to add Milb IP as well...they do count you know.. 2011 - 119.1IP 2012 - 147.1IP 2013 - 112.2IP 2014 - 115.1IP Now i understand he had an injury and was a swingman..point is hes pitched almost 150 one year and has been hanging around 120 betewwen starts and the pen. It may have been a few years ago, but the point remains he has pitched more ininngs than people are saying. minor league counts as well. Hes a big kid at 6'6 and 240lbs. Im guessing he can handle more than some think. Is there a concern? sure, but not nearly as much as those saying there is.
  17. I wouldnt be so quick to keep adding Kopech in every one of your trades. Ive said this for a while, even when everyone said he was trouble because he took a supplement from gnc to try and gain weight. Not some steroid. And got into a fight...he was 18-19. Give him a break( not you personally). Id rather have to reel him in a little than try to light a fire under his ass...He's got 100+ in his back pocket and good secondary stuff, which has improved. He hit 105 on multiple guns the other night...thats ridiculous!!! Now with Groome signed, whos also very highly touted, we have a couple potential studs. Losing Espinoza is tough but when you have a team thats ready to win now and over the next 3-4 years with all this young talent, you HAVE to make a move. esponiza wont even be ready, if at all, until then. This is the price you pay for young controlled starting pitching. Steep? Yes. You talked about signing Porcello through his prime years and now we have the same but cheaper. Porcello seems to be figuring it out and inthink the former #5 pick will too. I think Pomeranz is coming into his own. Im guessing DD and co. Does too, so they made the move. DD said there woild be moves that hurt a bit. This is certainly one of them. Im betting, like the sox, that Pomeranz eases that pain a bit.
  18. Ok ok..calm down. Apparently you have measured him yourself Regardles, i dont think thats the issue anyway... and I still don't think hes 6'1 I think they question the makeup
  19. Also I wouldnt go by his height on soxprospects..they always list shorter guys a couple inches taller. Bogey was 6'3 at one time..Pedey was 5'9.. AE is probably about 5'10, 6' with cleats
  20. Never said i didnt want pitching...just not as high on JF as some is all. Giving up Moncada Benintendi and Swihart is a big over pay regardless. Not for one starter. No way.
  21. I see shoulder issues within the next couple years I may be wrong. Just a somewhat unprofessional educated opinion One thing for sure is he is dominating right now and is going to bank someday if he can stay healthy.
  22. Very true. Good point DD has a good track record with these kinds of trades. He seems to be a really good evaluator of talent.
  23. I wouldnt pay that much for any pitcher...Besides, ive changed my stance on Fernandez. His mechanics scare me. Something i really didnt notice until pointed out to me recently.
  24. Good thing is we have him for his prime years and he looks to have found himself this year.
  25. I get your point, but....Xander bogaerts, mookie betts, JBJ, travis Shaw, Blake Swihart, Christian Vazquez...they do, but they also have to make tough trades when needed. Maybe an overpay, but thats what pitching costs..be lucky it was only one for one. It hurts, but it was what was available and needed. Id rather they do this and have a better chance at a WSC than stand pat
