Article: Jarren Duran Needs a Change of Scenery
Zippo102 replied to Alex Mayes's topic in Talk Sox Front Page News
Pitching is at an all time premium right now. No one is giving up a quality starting pitcher right now. At least not what the Sox need. If we can't get back a good pitcher in return then why do it. I get so sick of hearing "it will make us better in the long run". How long have we been hearing that? Just because he has trade value doesn't mean we should trade him. When he bats leadoff and gets going the whole team gets going. And i don't know another player on that team that plays as hard as he does. That dude never wants to take a day off and I don't care what the score is that boy is hustling. I get that GMs are suppose to look at the business side of it and not fall in love with players, but it seems like the Sox have gone far beyond the business side of it. Yes, he has struggled playing LF, if any of you have played baseball you know just because you can play one OF position doesn't mean you can play them all. The ball comes off the bat differently and when you're playing CF the you are looking straight into the batters box with just one wall to contend with. I'm not sure why we are giving up on him so quickly. Half a season does not seem that long when you are talking about baseball. If you want to trade someone, Trade the f****** manager. With his constant tinkering with the lineup, positions, and pitching staff. He never holds players accountable, he jsut wants to be their friend. He always says " he had an off night" or talk about how good the other teams pitcher or hitter is. How about jcalling them to the plate and saying "do better". -
Great breakdown. I guess I'm just not onboard the Bello hype train. Kutter was pretty damn good in the first half, his ERA didn't hit 4.00 until August when he ran out of gas. He threw 183 innings last year compared to 129 the year before. Prior to that the most he threw was 143 but that was 2018. 2019 88 2021 96 2022 101 Kutter's So9, K9, and BB9 have all been better than Bello's the last 2 years. Bello was better in the second half but his ERA was over 5.50 in June.

I have never understood the love for Bello. Has he ever done anything to think he will ever be more than a forth or fifth starter? Why is automatically assumed that Kutter goes to the pen when his numbers across the board were better than Bello. He had a good season until he ran out of gas and still finished with better stats. Every time Bello takes the mound I cringe.

The reality of it is the Red Sox are sitting around waiting for a good deal, but that is not where today's market is. If he is a good player and someone you want on your roster, you have to overpay for them or someone else will. This is something that they refuse to do and why we are the interest kings.

Agreed. It's easy to throw a number out there knowing no matter what, there is a team sitting there waiting to outbid everyone.

I think Story bats before Raffy. That will give Story a chance to see better pitches to get him going and if he bats third, they are just gonna walk Raffy to get to him. I mean why wouldn't you.

Haggling over $500 thousand for a player who is clearly worth more than that is not a good look and bad business. I hope it doesn't come back to bite them in the ass.

Article: What if the Red Sox Are Done Adding?
Zippo102 replied to Caleb Kohn's topic in Talk Sox Front Page News
I think you hit the nail on the head Caleb. In today's market, when every player is overpriced, the Sox are not willing to get uncomfortable. They are completely out of touch with the current landscape of what takes to get these deals done or they just don't care. I believe it is the latter. There is no excuse for this. I bought into the crap they threw out there last year that they were waiting for the young kids to be ready and then they will spend. What they have done so far this year is the exact opposite. They traded away 2 of our best prospects, I think Montgomery is going to be special, and they haven't spent any money. So, it will be another year for me without baseball. Haven't been to a game or watched a game on NESN for two years. I refuse to put more money in Henry's pocket.- 132 replies

Rumor: The Red Sox Plan On Spending This Winter
Zippo102 replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Talk Sox Front Page News
The key word there is "shrewd". They will make it look like they are in on everyone and then turn around and say that this person or that person "didn't fit into the red sox plans". No longer have any faith in the ownership.
